Strongman Evan Singleton announced on Sept. 24, 2022, in a video on his Instagram page that, during a training session, he tore the distal biceps tendon on his right arm.
It’s completely off the bone.
Due to that injury, he officially withdrew from the 2022 Giants Live World Tour Finals scheduled for Oct. 8, 2022, in Glasgow, Scotland, and the 2022 Rogue Invitational, scheduled for Oct. 28-30, 2022, in Austin, TX. At the time of this article’s publication, there is no word yet on who will be Singleton’s replacement for either contest.
Despite pulling out of the remainder of the 2022 strongman season, Singleton successfully underwent surgery to reattach his biceps tendon. In the caption of his Instagram post sharing that news on Sept. 28, 2022, he suggested that his expected recovery timetable will enable him to prep for the 2023 World’s Strongest Man (WSM) contest. In a video posted to Singleton’s YouTube channel on Sept. 28, 2022, he filmed his final training session before he was compelled to take time off to recover from surgery. He focused on heavy deadlifts with a body strap that removed any emphasis from his arms as he could not apply stress to his right biceps. His top single was 385.6 kilograms (850 pounds).
Singleton followed the deadlifts with unilateral training on his left arm in the form of machine lateral raises, dumbbell biceps curls, and cable curls. The surgery took place in Manchester, England, and only took approximately one hour to complete. Singleton’s charge was “no training or perspiring” for five days and then 10 additional days of tending to ensure the wound remains dry to prevent scarring.

Back to lower body for a while; get really good at squats.
Singleton’s tentative plan is to fully recover in time to train for a successful 2023 competition season effectively. He mentioned the 2023 WSM as his “first stop,” followed by the Giants Live circuit and the 2023 Rogue Invitational. We’ll see how Singleton’s recovery unfolds and if he can return to the competitive stage stronger than he left it.
