Men’s Open competitor Samson Dauda has been successful on the competitive bodybuilding stage, winning the 2021 Prague Pro Show. It will culminate with his Mr. Olympia debut on Dec. 16-18, 2022, in Las Vegas, NV.
Dauda routinely shares updates on his massive physique via social media. There’s little doubt that “The Nigerian Lion” is one of the biggest upcoming names in the sport.
On Sept. 29, 2022, Dauda shared a video on Hosstile’s YouTube channel, where he embarks on the grocery store for his weekly haul during his Olympia prep. Dauda said he weighed roughly 320 pounds at the time of the video. Check it out below:

Dauda’s Rise to the Top
Dauda earned his International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB) Pro League card in 2018*. According to NPC News Online, he finished in 11th place at the 2018 Romania Muscle Fest Pro in his Pro League debut. The following year saw Dauda notch two top-10 performances in the 2019 Wings of Strength Pro (seventh place) and the 2019 Vancouver Pro (eighth place).
In 2022, Dauda is enjoying some of the best results of his career to date. The Nigerian athlete came in fourth place at the 2022 Arnold Classic and followed up with another fourth-place finish at the 2022 Boston Pro.
Per the IFBB’s qualification standards for the 2022 Olympia, Dauda’s performance in the Arnold Classic earned him eight points in the standings. Dauda’s result in the Boston Pro garnered another two points to earn Dauda his ticket into the 2022 Olympia — his debut at the contest.

Grocery Haul
Sunday is Dauda’s rest day, making it an ideal time for his biweekly grocery shopping. The store he frequents, Makro Ipswich, is a two-hour drive round trip, and he buys his staple foods, including chicken, steak, and rice, in bulk.
The first items placed in Dauda’s shopping cart are two bulk bags of sweet potatoes. Dauda then grabs a bag of honey roasted cashews — a small but effective compromise he allows for himself during prep when he gets cravings.

In the seafood section, Dauda eyed a whole wild-caught salmon and throws it into his cart. He drops 11 pounds of lean skinless chicken breast and a giant hunk of steak, and a large box of fifteen dozen eggs next to it.
Dauda passes longingly by the meatballs, something he can no longer indulge in this far into his contest prep. While it was not included in this trip, Dauda often buys a 20-kilogram bag of rice, and in his off-season, includes pasta and oats. For non-bulk items, Dauda typically shops two to three times per week.
Road to the Olympia
Dauda intends to make his debut at the Olympia in 2022 a memorable one, particularly after reaching his off-season bodyweight goal of 330 pounds. The 2022 Mr. Olympia will take place on Dec. 16-18 in Las Vegas, NV, and we’ll
