Feroce consumes his caloric shake in the morning. He incorporates the shake on cardio days to prevent going catabolic.
“On days when I do cardio in the morning, which is pretty much every day except an off day or a leg day, I do my shake, and it’s usually [at] 8 a.m,” says Feroce. “An hour and a half later, I eat a meal…probably between 550 and 700 calories.”
Feroce’s second meal of whole foods is at approximately 12:30 p.m. with similar calories as the previous meal. This is an alteration to how Feroce previously consumed his calories throughout the day. Now, he consumes upwards of 2,000 calories by 1 p.m., whereas previously, he would have less than half that.

Nutrient timing can be as important as what you eat when adding quality mass. For some people, not getting a proper breakfast before cardio, especially in the off-season, can lead to catabolism. A study published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism in 2019 suggests that changing the timing of when you eat in relation to when you exercise can bring about profound and positive changes to your overall health.” (1)
