Day Two of the Rogue Invitational Strongman contest was greeted with excitement from the crowd in attendance, and it kicked off with Event Four: The Rogue-a-Coaster.
Athletes had to perform an arm-over-arm rope pull to transfer a cart with 600 pounds inside to the top of the ramp. The strongman who pulls it the farthest up the track in the 90-second time cap, or pulls it to the top in the fastest time possible and dumps the bags over the side, would be the winner — the clock stopped when the first bag touches the mat on the ground.
Martins Licis claimed the victory by pulling the cart to the top in less than 34 seconds. Two Ukrainian competitors, Pavlo Nakonechnyy and Oleksii Novikov rounded out the top three. The full standings for the event are below:

“Rogue-a-Coaster” Highlights
Faires started things off, but he wasn’t able to pull it to the top. Boudreault was, and he managed to do it in less than 70 seconds. Boudreault really focused on using his legs, which appeared to be a smart strategy.
Melsted was next, and he had a smile on his face before his turn began – a sign of confidence. He would stretch his entire body back during the pulls, and he also managed to complete the pull before time expired. Thompson took his turn next, and the “American Nightmare” attacked it by pulling very quickly. He was so quick that he took the lead by finishing in one minute and two seconds. He expressed a lot of excitement about that result.
The fifth participant was Kearney, who started the day in sixth place overall. Kearney wrapped the rope around himself before the event began. As the lightest man in the field, he was pulling around twice his body weight. The rope-behind-the-back strategy didn’t work for him, and he wasn’t able to finish. “That sucked,” he yelled to the crowd.

Hooper started the second half of the field, and he came into the day with momentum by winning the final event of Day One, the Husafell Sandbag Carry. The strongman pro rookie from Canada exploded out of the gate, and he had the cart halfway up within the first 20 seconds. He reached the top in 42.53 seconds, which was greeted with a big cheer from the crowd.
Nakonechnny had to follow that act, and he was up to the challenge. The Ukrainian matched and then raised Hooper by finishing three seconds faster. Next up was the 2021 Rogue Invitational winner, Licis, who is known for technique and calculation. After seeing what the others had done before him, “The Dragon” applied short pulls quickly, and he finished in less than 34 seconds to take the lead in the event.
Two-time Shaw Classic winner Trey Mitchell was next, with Brian Shaw on commentary calling the action. Shaw noted Mitchell’s back and leg strength as advantages before his turn began. Mitchell pulled with all his might, and he finished in less than 41 seconds to put him in third place for the event, with only Novikov yet to come. The overall leader going into the day took his position and calmly waited for his time to start. Once he did, he focused on consistent pulls. He reached the summit in a time of 39.04 seconds, giving Licis his first win of the day and competition.
