The 2023 Royal Rumble, presented by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) on Peacock TV, took place on Jan. 28, 2023. The show is one of the biggest of the year for WWE, as the male and female winners of their respective Royal Rumble matches earn a title shot at the biggest show in all of pro wrestling: Wrestlemania. The 2023 Wrestlemania — the pay-per-view’s 39th edition — is scheduled for April 1-2, 2023, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA.
In a commercial that aired during the event, the reigning WWE Tag Team champions, The Usos, who are members of the dominant faction known as “The Bloodline,” appeared in a Papa John’s commercial, wherein they trained as strongmen. They performed a tire flip and a truck pull in the spot — check it out below, courtesy of WWE’s Twitter page:

Specifically, Jey Uso flipped a tire, and Jimmy Uso pulled a truck. While the weight of the tire and truck were not disclosed, both were performed with similar techniques that would be seen in an elite strongman contest.
Jimmy Uso had ropes over his shoulders that he used to move the truck, which is different from the harness and pulling rope used during the Bus Pull at the 2022 World’s Strongest Man (WSM) contest, implying that the truck was not as heavy as that bus. However, both movements are impressive from the champion tag team members, whose combined weight is 493 pounds.
2023 Royal Rumble Highlights
SPOILER ALERT: Rhea Ripley and Cody Rhodes emerged victorious in the two Royal Rumble matches from opposite ends of their respective matches. Ripley made history as the first female WWE Superstar to ever go “coast to coast” at the Rumble, meaning she entered the match as the first combatant and outlasted all 29 other superstars. Rhodes entered the men’s Rumble in the 30th position, giving him the advantage over the rest of the field. Ultimately, Rhodes eliminated Gunther, who entered at number one and broke the record for the longest amount of time spent in a single Rumble, to punch his ticket to the main event of Wrestlemania 39.
The Usos appeared tangentially to the main event of the 2023 Royal Rumble. The match was WWE Undisputed Universal champion Roman Reigns versus Kevin Owens. After some shenanigans, including a low blow by Reigns, Owens was defeated. What followed after the match was a beatdown of Owens and a heel-turn by “honorary Uce” Sami Zayn, an underling of Reigns whose loyalty had been called into question vigorously leading up to the match.

After Zayn refused to join the group assault by Reigns and The Usos on a defenseless Owens, Zayn turned against Reigns by bashing him in the back with a steel chair. Jimmy Uso, who never trusted Zayn, attacked the former “honorary Uce” after Zayn mouthed what seemed to be a sincere apology to Jey Uso, who regarded Zayn as a brother.
Although The Usos were on the same page when it came to training strongman and touting pizza in a commercial, the same could not be said for their in-ring alliance, as Jey turned his back on his brother and cousin, Reigns. Jey left the arena, leaving a battered Zayn and Owens in the ring with the family he just broke ties with.
