vasectomies

What do you guys think about them? My wife and I are done having kids, and we've talked about me getting one.

I've done a little reading on the subject... Looks like there are 2 flavors, one less invasive than the other (it sounds better).

Anyway, would love to hear any opinions or experiences with them!

None, my wife had her tubes tied, which was just fine for me!!!

I'm thinking the vasectomy is a lot safer, cheaper, and more revserible than my wife getting her tubes tied... And the plan would be to make a deposit in the sperm bank before hand, just in case.

I'm thinking of the no scalpel vasectomy, where a smaller incision is made....

Anyone know how much, and for how long, there is discomfort afterwards?

the knife one wasn't that bad don't remember how long the discomfort was though but I did behave myself and(for a change) listen to the doctor

everyone I've known that's had that shit done has been out of commission for no less than 3 days with a bag of frozen veggies on their family jewels.....doesn't sound too fun to me, but I think that unless she's going to get her tubes tied right after giving birth, you getting yourself neutered is the least invasive of the two surgeries

Damn, you guys are real supportive, lol. Sounds like you guys are volunteering to raise any extra kids I have for me!

No, I've pretty much decided to have it done... I just need to get the ball rolling (no pun intended). But surely more than just mailboxkillR has had a vasectomy done?

My father had one. I don't think I could go through with it. Too much like cutting yer nuts off.
I wonder if it can cause a higher risk for prostrate cancer, or testicular cancer. I've read that it is healthy for the prostrate if you toss a batch of batter regularly.
There are so many birth control options now that I think I'll just stay "hooked up". besides, I can always claim that having worked in a nuke plant has left me sterile. (jk)

ohh yea thats right bigshug frozen corn on the nutz. Ain't so bad al there's 3 out of 7 guys at work that are trimmed if need be I'd do it again.

A guy I used to work with had it done, he said you will lay on the couch drooling from the pain killers, with a bag of ice on your nuts for a weekend.

I agree with BM. There are so many other methods of birth control out there.

AL...Have you thought of abstinence? That seems to be working for me currently, not by choice though....
