How do you measure your chest?

Do you measure all the way around your upper body (ie. pecs, lats, and your sides) your just from the side of your left pec to the side of your right pec?

I measured all the way around and it was 43". Am I doing this correct and is 43" good? I'm 6'1", 165lbs. My lats are decent and that's what added the extra few inches but how does that really measure your chest?

it's just like getting fitted for a suit. there are two chest measurments... inside and outside the arms.

Inside: you go all the way around - and under your arms... the tape measure should go on your chest around the height of your nipples.

Outside: same(nipple ) level... but go on the outisde of your arms.

As for what is good or bad - just measure up to yourself and track your improvement.

for comparison - I'm 6 ft tall.. weigh 226 lbs..

Chest inside: 47 inches
Chest outside: 57 inches

You would measure all the way around your body & across your nipples.
43" sounds about right for your weight.. did you keep the tape measure at the same height across your back as the front?

I *think* it was level.

Just do the same thing you would do if you were measuring your waist.. only move it up :D
Keep it level all the way around your chest because if you let the measuring tape dip in the back, you're not getting an accurate reading.
