Ok I know this isn't the best place to put it, but mods can we keep this here for a few days to a week and then move it? that's because I can get the most traffic in this forum...

OK I supplement melatonin to help me sleep at night sometimes and was wondering what natural foods are there which has melatonin in it already? I just need to know this so I can avoid them before I head off to classes... I hate falling asleep in classes...

any info would be much appreciated...

I don't know if there are any foods that have a high enough amount of melatonin in them to cause drowsiness. There is a chemical in turkey that does. I used 6mg a night to help with sleeping. But after a while I found I started to become immune to it a bit.

The chemical MacGyver speaks of is triptophane(sp). It used to be sold OTC but got pulled by the FDA for some reason. It still can be had from overseas and I think I did see it on a research supplier's list.

There is a study out there someone that said melatonin inhibits the release of natural GH when taken at night.

so, so far all i got is that melatonin is present in turkey and cherries... any other foods I should avoid before heading off to class?

yeah i'm getting enough sleep... it's just I KNOW for a fact that melatonin makes one drousy... so as to prevent me from sleeping in class, I'll simply avoid it...

here's another angle.

maybe your classes are that boring and it's tough to stay awake. I had many of those in college.

ok guys it seems as though u guys are side-stepping my question... I simply asked what foods has melatonin in it naturally so I can avoid them before classes...

I'm not saying that by doing that I'm gonna ensure myself staying awake in class, I would just like to know as a means of prevention that's all...

and yes... electrical engineering classes are UBER boring!!
