INSULIN, HUMULIN R, some final thoughts before I start please...

Thanks to Harvey Balboner for recommending this site to me! What's up Harvey?

I'll be using Humulin R at 2ius to start then bumping up 1iu until I get to 5 or 6iu's. How does this look?
Please let me know anything you'd change that would be to my advantage. How does my meal at 11:30 look? Humulin R peaks at 2hrs I believe, so is that a good MRP at that time? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

8:15am--couple pieces of fruit and liquid aminos
8:30 am-- Workout
9:30---2iu's slin
Approx 9:31am--10gms of Dextrose/iu slin, 15 gms Creatine, 5gms of Glutamine, 40 gms of protein all in one shake
11:30am-Fat free yogurt in a protein shake which will have at least 5gms Carbs/iu of slin and alot more protein.
1:30pm--2 Chicken Breast and wild rice
3:30pm--Protein Shake 50gms and can of tuna
5:30pm--A couple of sandwhiches
7:30pm--2 turkey burgers/or steak/or chicken or some kind of sandwhich's with vegetable/salad
9:30pm-- 50gm Protein shake w/yogurt/ or banana

I'll have Glucose tabs on hand, and a glucagon pen if it's OTC, does anyone know if it is? I'll also keep some pop and a snickers bar around. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

welcome to MC!

I sent a pm to you about this earlier, but for the benefit of the others.

I would stick to the rule of 10 carbs per iu of slin immediately after the injection, until you get more experience with it, and you know how your body reacts then you can cut it down, somewhere in the 5 iu range.

I never bothered with the gluc pen, I just keep a can of soda on hand just in case.

All in all it looks like your diet is good to go, and you've been doing your homework.

Thanks Harvey. Bro, I'm a little nervous, don't want to sound like a pussy though. A fella over at anabolex had a crazy situation just recently with slin, I believe his handle was McBastard. He did everything right, but something went wrong. But all in all it seems like if you do it right, nothing should go wrong. Were you nervouse as fuck when you first took slin? I'm wanting to see what all the hype is about with slin, just want to be definite in my decision, and definite is hard with this subject.

No I wasn't really nervous about taking it, although I am an oddball when it comes to this kind of stuff. I researched it for quite a while, as long as you follow instructions you will be fine.

I will tell you nothing puts weight on me like slin, not even juice.

Another thing because it is not talked about a lot NO ALCAHOL while you do this, it can cause you to go hypo.

Do you think that my 11:30 meal since it is when Humulin R peaks should be Chicken/pasta or keep it like I have it? I hear real food keeps hypo away better than MRPs, is this true? What exactly does your eating/slin schedule look like when you do it? Are you on it now? Do you use Humulin R or Humalog?

Either way would be fine, I do fine with my shakes.

My eating goes like this, I take about 12iu of slin in a shot.

Immediate Shake (2 cups fat free yogurt mixed in 16oz skim milk

1 Hour later Lean meat like chicken breast or tuna, and moderate carbs yams, banna, pasta, rice, etc. I can skip the carbs here, but I do not reccomend you do it.

2.5 Hours later, more lean meat, moderate carbs.

I then eat normal the rest of the day.

biggerstronger,

I would not wait more than 15 minutes to get your shake after the injection. The sooner the better.

I do something that not many do when it comes to eating after a shot of slin.

However, I DO NOT AND AM NOT RECOMMENDING THIS TO ANYONE UNLESS YOU HAVE EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE WITH SLIN.

I wait for the onset of very mild hypo symptoms before taking in my food or postworkout drink. I don't do this precontest but I do use this approach in the offseason. I also use humulin R and NOT humalog so it is less risky to do this.

The reason behind doing this is that you negate the endogenous release of insulin by waiting until the R hits you. Problem with humulin R is that sometimes it can take a while for the hypo to hit.

I've found that even when I have a smoothie (40grams protein/40 grams carbs/5 grams creatine/glutamine) with my 10 iu's humalog after my workout, I can't wait for another hour to pass before eating. Almost like clockwork, if I wait an hour, the hypo symptoms come over me QUICKLY, and I end up having to down a glass of fruit juice just to negate the dizziness and trembling I experience. I've found that if I have a meal - 12 oz red meat, yam with cinnamon, water - about 30 mins after my smoothie, and then a shake with another 75 grams carbs about 1 1/2 hrs later, I feel much better

I'm the same way. I take both humulin R and humalog, but mostly humalog. I eat right after taking it then I eat again an hour later and then again an hour after that. I've been doing 20iu's 2x's daily and it works wonders! I wait for the onset of hypo before I start eating alot of times too. I don't recommend this to anyone though. I've had some close calls but the longer you use it the easier it is and the more used to dealing with it you become and it's less of a worry. I hardly "worry" about my eating with the slin because I've been doing it so many months now that it's just habit. At first it wasn't always this way. And I used to eat 10g carb per iu but now I eat like 5g carb per iu. If I feel hypoish though I just eat more...

I agree with huntergatherer for beginning to learn. After a few weeks or months though you will be able to wait longer. 15-30min for the log and up to an hour for humulin r before eating afgter you get used to how insulin effects you and know the signs of going hypo really well. This may not be smart, but after a while you will be able to eat less carbs and wait longer b4 eating them, at least I can because I now can basically feel my bloodsugar/insulin levels when before I had no idea how to tell.
