Olive Oil Supplementation?

I know all the rage is Flax Seed Oil and Hemp Oil, but what about Olive Oil? Besides it being some of the healthiest stuff for you on this earth, two tablespoons offer 440 calories- a nice addition while bulking. Any opinions on this?

LOL, It's LA's favorite from what I read. I'm sure he'll post something about it tomorrow when he logs on. He's a knowledgable guy! Look at his cycle log in the anabolic forum, he talked a little about it there.

Whoops! Did I say over 400 calories in two tablespoons? Sorry. I had a temporary relapse of brain malaria. It is actually 120 calories per tablespoon.

120 per tbls is correct- I take 1 tblspoon in the am pre-workout along with 1 in the p.m before bed-Flax seed at the same time-That is an easy AND healthy 480 calories!

In my best Homer Simpson voice- "Ummm... Olive Oil, Argh......"

It seems that I live on protein powder and olive oil. Olive oil is so versatile. Provides good fats at a very reasonable price (especially when compared to flax). Olive oil is mostly mono fats, which means it's not very susceptible to heat. I keep a 3 liter bottle handy at work so I don't worry about refrigeration at all.

As far as science goes (and pay attention all you naturals out there) the body needs saturated or mono fats for the production of test. Now we all know the dangers of getting too much saturated so that leaves good old olive oil to come to the rescue.

Now for word of mouth. When cutting I believe olive oil to actually help in some way toward burning fat. Dogcrapp actually wrote that he believes olive oil to have some kind of uncoupling properties. As far as bulking goes, like it was said- easy calories!

Been a big olive oil fan for over 4 years now. Used to do a high protein, moderate carb, low fat diet. The I got my cholesterol levels checked. LDL was low (good) but so was HDL (bad). Then I started using olive oil as my primary source of fats. HDL jumped to the high end of the scale and has been there ever since (never get tested until orals have a chance to clear the system).

One last note. On my current bulker I get over 100g of olive oil a day.

So you take in 900 cals in olive oil correct?
At least. I usually end up with a total fat intake around 120g - 150g for a day (4500 calorie diet). The total calorie number is going to have to climb shortly.

Yesterday's fat totals:

105 from olive oil (2 1/2 tablespoons in 3 shakes, yum, yum)
6 from cheese
8 from protein bar
6 from turkey

Real food (I hate that saying) usually consists of turkey and egg whites (some times tuna). Going to add a 1/2 lb of extra lean ground sirloin shortly.

I have read before that you should buy extra virgin olive oil, because it is the first pressing of the leaves, has more nutritional benefits than the others.

Always a good idea to go with the extra virgin Harvey, not necessarily just with olive oil- LOL!

ha, just with the olive oil kind wasn't so f'n expensive.

Very interesting. Olive oil is on the list for my next trip to the store.
Just one question remains in my fevered brain... Was Popeye's gf Olive Oil extra virgin?

bumping up for the good info.

I've been using more olive oil in damn near everything now.

I tried the olive oil in my shakes and I just couldn't handle the taste. Went back to cold pressed Flax Oil and it seems to be doing very well for me. I tried the flax oil from GNC because of price and it tasted rancid. I use Barleans now..
