On the inside of my right knee i have this aching, if i tap the bone along the inside of my right knee it hurts like hell, anyone experiance this? it comes and goes throughout the year, maybe a tandon runs along the outside there? anyone know or experiance similar problems? and what measures did u take to heal it and how long, im thinking ice before i hit legs tonight? and i dont wrapp the knees during squats or nothing

It sounds as though you may have just irritated the ligament.

Take Motrin (anti-inflammatory) with food before & after your workout.

Stretch well before your workout, Don't ice prior (you may ice after), and don't do Leg Extensions this workout.

I have Arthro-Chondral-Mylagia in both knees and have to take Vioxx ed. I was told by my Ortho Surgeon not to do Leg Extensions any longer. I've been fine since taking his advice. He played Football at West Point, so he knows about Sports Injurys. He's regarded as one of the best in the Country.

Good luck Bro & be carefull.

thnx bro, i actualy went ahead and did extensions, no surprise there right, lol, didnt hurt at all, what hurt was squattin and doin leg curls, the squatting actualy made me feel like presure on my knee cap like it was ready to crack, stopped after a few reps and went fairly heavy for me anyhow, came home iced the hell out of it, still swollen, im pissed off about this as i just finaly started with a training partner thats my caliber whatever that is,lol, and i feel hindered, grrrr 2 shows in october and im freaking out here

anyone else?

I had the exact same feeling - messed up the ligaments on the outside of of my right knee - but I did it by stupidly running down half dome in yosemite. Took about 1 year for it to fully heal... but I didn't do much of anything exercise that year... just drank a lot.

um... i doubt that helped. *chuckle*

Presser, in my practice I see alot of this. Usually is due to tendonitis from the VMO "Vastis Medialis". You can deffinately get some benefits from icing and be carefull on heavy closed chain loading. ie squats and lunges. Leg extensions should not bother it at all if it is what I think it might be. What happens is, when you lift legs heavey, sometimes inflamation can lead to small adhesions within the muscle. This will cause the musscle to fire incorrectly leading to more inflamation around the insertion point. If the problem persists I would reccomend you finding someone in your area who is proficient at Active Release Techniques. This should deffinately fix your problem and allow you to get back to training hard and heavy quickly. Meanwhile, roll a small towel and place it behind your knee. Gently stretch your quad. Do not stretch through any pain. If you feel pain, back off untill you don't. If pain sets in you can cause an escentric strain.
