t3 - why taper up?

I know you're supposed to taper t3 up, and then very slowly taper it down. I understand why we need to taper it down slowly, but why do we need to taper it up?

The thyroid is going to shut off as soon as T3 levels get beyond a certain point.

The only reason to taper up that I know of is avoid a heart attack. This is especially true for 1st time T3 users who don't yet know how there body reacts to T3.

I'm on T3 replacement and done many T3 cycles. I never bother to taper up anymore. Of course I consider myself on the deadpool leader board too.

jumping on T3 at higher doses makes me feel like total shit. Using the same logic as you Al (I see no reason to taper up, blah, blah), I jumped up to 50mcg a day and by the end of the 1st week, I had headaches, lost appetite, sleeplessness, and a general shitty feel (oh and I was sweating at night so fucking bad). Despite feeling like shit, I stayed with it for nearly 2 more weeks! The T3 experts kept telling me it would pass, well it didn't. I will never do that again.

I don't know if its an intolerance to higher dose T3 (I doubt it), or the fact that I slammed my TSH levels up that made me feel so rotten. But what I do know, is that I plan to ramp up slow next time to see how I feel. My plan is 12.5mcg for 1-2 weeks, then step it up to 25mcg for a week or two, etc...
