insulin questions

I've been reading up big time. About a hundred pages or so. I has confused me big time. I wish someone would make a decent, understandable, small and practical summary. I 'll have to do that myself I guess.

Anyway, still haven't decided if I'm gonna do it or not, but as for now I already have some questions. I'll end up with a lot more probably.

First off, just how big or small is the chance you develop diabetes? I mean, all they talk about is how to use it in a way and at a dose so it won't kill you. Nowhere it says those dosages couldn't cause you to develop diabetes.

Second, I'm not going to run around with needles all day long. I hate 'm enough as it is. So I was thinking about doing only one injection a day, 10IU's post workout. What results would this yield? Great, good, fair enough, kinda crappy, or worthless?

Third, Since we are only shuttling nutrients into the muscle cells, just how much gains do you keep when you come of this shit? If it's like creatine, meaning you lose every bit of what you gained, than I'm not interested. I've done two 'real' bulk cycles, and so far I have not to trouble at all to keep almost all the muscle I gained.

That's it so far. I'll bore you all to dead with more questions as I read on ;)

does any of the vets here used it yet? and if so could he publish a simple diary of what he did. I am so busy at work I have way to much time to convert all this theory to practice. I would like a small and simple insulin guide for dummies... just playing the copycat.
 
Here you go bro, this is for 10iu post workout as I have done.
Right after shot I drink 75g whet, 10g creatine, 1/2c. no fat ice cream or yogurt and about 6-8 low fat oreos blended and applesauce pending on how you react to slin I can get away w/less carbs. Then 1 hr later (I use humalog) I eat 2 chicken breast and 1c. white rice or 3 red potatoes and usually a glass of OJ or something like that high in carbs and then 1.5 hrs later I eat the same meal
 
Question #1: Diabetes risk is undetermined. I have yet ot hear of anyone who said this happened to them. There are, to my knowledge, no studies of insulin amininstration to non-diabetics examinining (primiarily or as a 2ndary finding) if diabetes develops.

Q#2: 10IU 1x/ day would yield results, but you can't predict how good / bad, etc. This depnds on your current insulin sensitivity.
Pick up a Novopen insulin delivery devise - you can carry 3 "pins" in the included carrying case.

Q#3: There is not the problem of endocrine shutdown with slin as there is with gear (see #1 above). Insulin sensitivity changes very dramatically over the course of the day, as does insulin levels. Unless you've made yourself very very fat, and impaired your pancreatic function (see #1 above), then I can't imagine insulin sensitivity returning w/in less than 24 hr. Of course, it will be at the level it would be w/ new muscle (and fat) gain, not where it was when you started (say if you were super lean and coming off a low carb diet).

I just started using slin testerday....I am using humulin so it is different than humulog....is peaks slower...about 2 hours....this is also what most use because it is available without a prescription...so take your 10 iu's then drink a protein shake with some carbs and creatine.....then eat one hour later assuming you just worked out...then at 2 hours when it peaks ....that is the most imprortant time to eat the carbs.....it will last in your system for 4 hours....so if you dont want to put on to much fat then dont eat any fat for the 4 hours it is in your system..and dont eat any carbs that are not needed...

just how immediately is 'immediately after your workout'? I can be home in about 10 minutes after my workout. Is this still ok? Rather put a pin in my tubby at home than taking it with me to the gym.
 
I take my humalog in the car immediately following my workout.....and I drink a protien smoothie with 40 grams protien/5 grams creatine/glutamine.

NO, I wouldn't recommend taking that shit and driving home, but I only live like 3 mins up the road and I also drink a smoothie while I work out, so I already have some sugars in my stomach

I stick with 10-12 iu's twice daily, and I can't wait for an hour after my smoothie to eat again. Humalog hits hard and fast, so be careful if you take it......My next meal after the smoothie usually has about 50-60 grams protien and around 100 grams of carbs - usually a mixture between yams and fruit juice
 
I used humulin R a few times now and by eating properly afterwards I never experienced anything out of the ordinary (sleepiness, dizziness, etc...). Humalog and Humulin R are your best bet.

I used it to help keep the gains of my previous cycle.

If the only thing that changes is that you stop using slin. You should lose little or no muscle mass whatsoever. This means diet, gear, sleep, etc. stay the same. Sometimes the slin may cause you to eat more than you would regularly - effects on appetite and fear of going hypo. Also, it regiments your diet.

As I said before, short-term (few months) 'slin use is very unlikey to have any lasting endocrine effects (diabetes, etc.)

YOu could lose some weight after the slin d/t to water rentetion. If you are using GH, too, there will be even more water rentetions (most people).

Well I plan on using slin with creatine for 4 weeks until the rest of my gear gets hear to start my cycle. then take 2weeks off and maybe cycle it through my cycle 4on 2off, depending on how I gain weight near the middle and end of cycle. I agree with cyberstefke I didnt want to lose alot when coming off of the slin. i mean I know I'll be starting my cycle then but, say after i got through with cycle and wanted to run it post cycle recovery with clomid and creatine again, I didnt want to just start gaining and then bam, when i stop I lose what i gained, i know i'll lose water weight when coming off of slin and gear. what type of diet do you suggest while using just slin and creatine until gear gets hear, a maintance diet or should i start adding my calories to my maintance diet so when i start my cycle I'll be starting to bulk then.

Sounds like your goal is to bulk. Why eat maintenance when using slin, essentially a bulking drug (although some used it when dieting to keep muscle)?

I would follow the typical rules for slin use - 10g carbs / IU, low fat meals, etc. keep kcal around 20 x body weight in pounds (4000kcal for a 200lb'er), protein at 1.5 g / lb (minimum). Eat low fat generally, with exception of EFA's when the slin is not elevated. Take in almost all carbs during the 2-4 hr after 'slin shots. Other meals are low-carb, protein rich. Longest break between meals should come before the slin shot (e.g., overnight, when you're not eating, and during the 3-4 hr before your nighttime shot, if you do one.)

Example:
8 AM: 10IU hum R sub q
Meal #1: 100g carb, 50 g protein 8AM
Meal #2: as above 10AM
Meal #3: chicken w/ BBQ sauce, salad (noon)
Meal #4: flax and whey shake 2PM
Train: 5-6PM
6PM: 10 IU as above\
Meal #5 & 6 - same as #1 and #2
Meal #7: 10-11PM or bedtime: MRP (w/ carbs)
