lol,

bro you still look pretty big to me..or maybe I haven't seen your before pics..but you're alright...however, 10lbs is a good amount of weight...how long it took you to lose 10lbs ? if I was you, I would keep my diet up, and find a time to lift...you say you work from 4am to 6pm, thats alot of hours per-day..so...after you get home from work..take a shower, go to sleep until 9pm...then wake up..go to the gym until 10 or so...come back home shower again..eat etc...

and by the way, I'm very interested in becoming a dental assistant. Here where I live (MA) they get fair salary...so can you gude me through step by step..on what I would have to do to become one...if that requires a college degree in like dental dep..then don't reply..

I Dropped that 10 pounds in just over a week, I get up have some egg whites (light protein) and battle traffic to work, then work with no breaks and a short lunch till 6pm, battle traffic home exhausted, by then its around 7 or 8 pm and I've got to get to bed so I can be sharp as a tack in the morning. I'm going to try to work it out so that my weekends are mostly gym time.

So you want to be a dental assistant?

here's what you do, go find a Monarch dental practice (if they have those there) and tell them you want to be a dental assistant.
If they like you they will say come in at 7-8 am wearing scrubs and be ready to work.
the first day you'll just autoclave instruments, and clean rooms to OSHA standards.
don't expect anyone to tell you how to do anything ask some other Pa's (working interview they call it), just stick to the easy routine stuff for the first couple of days. by day 2 you will be watching procedures and possibly providing suction, and you will be filling out allot of charts on new patents during their initial examination, The doctors all have their own way of saying things so you'll just have to get used to what they want you to put on the chart, some will refuse to take time to tell you, oh and everyone gets x-rays their first visit 4 bite wings and a panoramic (you do that to as well as develop them) find someone who has been their a while (not a Dr.) and ask them the questions on how they want everything done.
Its tuff getting the routine down the first two days then from then on its all learning new stuff, They have me hand crafting temp, and permanent crowns I just show a Doc the x-ray of the permanent so they can see if it sits correctly if the Dr, says it looks good, It goes in permanent should last 25-45 years with no problems.

The First couple of days are basically getting used to the different way Doctors like to do things and getting to know where everything is and where to put who, ect. after that its just a nice constant learning experience, crash course dentistry!

next week they have you learning the procedures so that you can do them and the Dr.can stop by and make sure you did it correctly. But by week 2 the stress level goes way down and your just deciding on what you want to learn to do next.

We are short 6 assistants and the one with 2 and 1/2 years experience is going on vacation, so next week its all me and I've only been their m-f of last week and a Thursday and Friday of the week before. .......oh and no degree required you just have to be able to learn by doing it real fast. :D

Thanks body2see,
unfortunately I don't think the pace is going to slow down any but I will find some way to work in some heavy lifting into my schedule. As for $$$ we haven't even had time to discuss that yet even though I'm permanent and they already have me on paper with the IRS , I don't get my first check till July 5th and it better be fat and thick. I'm sure the pay is good because they need people bad, and if they get some more people ill have to train them and do all my stuff too, but it will take some of the load off my back.

I'll try and get some nice gore pics for all of you to see what happens behind the scenes at the dentist ;)

HAHAH! we have that N02 Gas on tap, personally it leaves me with a headache,
we use it to calm down our occasional extremely nervous patients. Our center is mostly for adults patents the kids get gassed, and the cry baby older folks, we had one lady under general anesthesia, gas, and just about every local anesthetic we have (6 root canals) she was UNDER, and right in the middle of the procedure she starts singing the National Anthem as loud as she can (big woman) and the whole building almost pissed themselves laughing, she kept singing it over and over for almost an hour.

thanks for taking your time, answering my question bro.. it requires alot of learning but its still..good.. I might wanna check that out pretty soon...

take protien shakes and bars with you to work....you can scarf those things down in a few minutes and not have to starve your muscles all day long

Congrats on the job by the way!!

Yeah I have to take some protein with me, we have a fridge and I can stop by and snack and stuff. But I'm usually too busy to actually eat a big meal, I think Protein Shakes premixed are the way to go, because I'm dropping weight like mad.

Thanks Big!
