i started bulking a while ago to get up to 190 lbs, im at 175 lbs. curently. however im not really sure when most people stop.. i feel like im gettin a little bit of a gut cause i dont work my abs when i bulk. so do most people bulk till they hit there goal weight? or stop when u get to fat? im thinkin of stopping bulking for 2 months and run HIIT cardio for 2 months. thanks for the help and suggestions.

btw, this my sound like a stupid question, but does fat turn into muslce?

OK here is a basic protocol....gain 10-12 lbs of lean mass per year if you dont get what I am saying I will explain tomorrow but right now I am too drunk to answer that lol

when you get winded walking up the steps or have to take a breather when you put on your shoes...it's probably time to clean up the 'ole diet

I usually bulk over the winter. I started bulking this year in July. I have already put on some fat (no abs for the past 2 months). I know I will get fat during bulking and that's somthing I can live with. I'll continue until March then cut for next summer.

yeah there you go they said it but to answer your question I would bulk no more than 3 months, b/c you end up putting on a lot of fat and all that hard earned muscle will not show.

I usually do 12 weeks cycles LA so w/AS is when I do most of my bulking I tend to put on too much fat if I bulk not on gear I just maintain while I am not on...

Sorry midwtchamp, I was refering to pumpITup who asked the original question.

My thoughts are these: First have an altimate weight goal (or size) in mind. Now this may or may not be achivable through 1 bulk cycle. Second, have an idea of the low end of the muscle/fat ratio that you can accept. What I mean by this is at the start of a bulk cycle you may put on 3 lbs of muscle to 1 lb of fat. As the cycle goes on this ratio get worse.

Ok, next if you are bulking naturally keep bulking until one of the following occurs- either you reach you weight (size) goal or the muscle/fat ratio goes below your acceptable limit.

The same holds true if using AS and staying on year round. The difference would come into play when you are using AS and are still concerned with HTPA recovery, sides, etc. In that case 8-12 weeks seems to be the range everyone shoots for.

Of course another reason to stop bulking would be to have to cut for a special event. This could be a show, class reunion, trip to Heff's mansion or just "Summer's Coming".
