Can't keep down anything after a workout

I have a question that I am a bit embarrassed to ask. This happens almost every time I workout. I drink water while I workout, then drive home and make a protein shake with water and protein powder. No matter what brand, I can barely get the shake down without feeling sick. I try to get protein in me after a workout ASAP, but I struggle trying to drink down a couple of scoops of protein and water. This ever happen to anyone? Sometimes I'll wait an hour or so, then try to get down the shake, but that seems like a moot point as I have missed that window of opportunity to get protein back into me after a workout. Your thoughts?

Sip on it slowly. I'm thinking if you can finish the drink within about 20-30 minutes after workout you should be good. Good luck. Also you may want to try one of those premixed protein/carb drinks. They're pretty thin so it seems like it would be fairly easy to consume.

One sign of overtraining is having a loss of appatite. Maybe scale your lifts down a tad and see how that works. I also agree with BiggerStronger. Try something more thin and sip on it. Isopure has a liquid drink that has 45g of protein and 25g of carbs. You will need to add more carbs though. But it is a start

one thought I have is this how may scoops are you mixing with water 2 or 3 ? try to only mix one scoop you may be making it to thick also try taking amino acids I take 1 1000mg pill pre mid and post workout this will aid in the protein uptake also helps with recovery atleast I think so works for me

best of luck

oh you might try this as well take some protein powder with you and start drinking it instead of just the water starting about 15 mins befor your workout is over

I don't know what good this will do for you, but I have to mix my shakes with FF Skim Milk. I can't choke down a protein shake with out milk.

i just chug mine and i have no problems. can you drink water after you lift, maybe you should try eating a protein bar

chug it-and take it with you to the gym-I fill mine at the water fountain shake and gulp-get in my car and enjoy a bag of skittles on the way home.

I'm having trouble with chocolate shakes here lately, too.......if your gym makes protein smoothies, try them for a change of pace and you may be able to better stomach them for now

This place where I workout makes the best protein shakes..the prices are $5 to $7, expensive but damn good..They use Myoplex..and they mix it with pine apple juice or apple juice it gives that good taste..but when I come home and try to make a shake myself I don't like the taste...solution for your problem = force yourself even if you puke..
