Pleasure in the Pain Zone:

What turns intense physical effort into pure ecstasy is victory over your fears and self doubts. When you achieve that next big step by piling on more weights and grinding out those extra reps - continuing to strive beyond your previous limits - you've reached the benchmark of a true athlete. Those of you who can achieve this level will enjoy the pleasure of reaching beyond your former limitations. The next time you reach your set number reps while doing squats, challenge yourself, and be confident that you can remain in the game and go for those additional 1-2 reps, the reps that set you apart from the "average Joe".

It took forever to get one of my friends to start doing deadlifts. He finally listened and was doing a plate and a half. I started training with him and within 4 weeks I had him upto 3 plates and 2 ten's

Very nice post. I agree, get all you can out of the sets. When you think you can't do any more, do some more.
