training - HIT

Anyone ever used HIT or a modified HIT program in a pre-contest phase? I've used HIT off season before, I'm just not sure what effect the low volume will have, if any. Any thoughts?

If you've used HIT sucessfully to gain muscle in the past, you certainly will be able to use it to keep muscle now, which is the primary goal of precontest training. Keep your training hard and heavy!

i dont think the extreme intensity would be a very smart way to go about things in a pre contest hypocaloric phase bro , now if u want to talk about haycock's hst or doggcrapp's method(take out the rest pause) , then low volume with higher frequency would be the best way to go about preserving muscle .

RB, I think we are thinking along the same lines. I was messing around yesterday with making some modifications to Dogcrapp's method. As you stated, I want more frequency but also will need more recovery, the best of both worlds so to speak.

yeah exactly , u need the frequency , but the intensity with dc's program where he has the rest pause , the fascia streching wouldnt work very well in a hypocaloric environment , u might want to look at parrillo's methods on streching , they work pretty well pre contest , not as intense . and recovery will not be hampered as the nervous system is hardly over trained due to the low volume and normal intensity . we as steroid users would not want to use cortisol as a means for fat loss dont u think ? :)
