what I,m talking about is my diet,in terms of bodybuilding.I,m 6' 235--I,m 50 yrs old, been lifting for 2 1/2 yrs and have made incrediable gains--from 15"arms to 18 1/2" and everything else respectivly. My biggest gains came from tuning up my lifting-use to be in to 'cosmetic' lifting 5x a week than I hooked up with some one and for the last 2 yrs been lifting low volume and heavy weights--and have been in a '20 rep squat and deadlifting mentality'--also been on and off gear(mostly on)typically test and fina cycles--anyway,heres the thing--I can get pschyed up 2 to 3 x a week and have INTENSE lifting workouts on a consitent basis and I can keep constant also my gear usage--but diet is a 24/7 mentality and I find you really need to be commited to it--I am not and don't want to be(full time job,5 kids, wife, bla bla bla etc).So when I read "hey bro,if your diet isn't clean, your wasting your time bla bla bla" I get frustrated.I,m not wasting time--when I lift I get awsome pumps and I feel great--I,ve lost love handles etc etc my arms for me are freaking huge, and my wife freaks out at the size of my back(deadlifts--yes!)--and the gear keeps this 50 old man horney as hell--so when i wake up at 2 am and down a glass of milk with 15 oreo's or I'll pig out at mcdonalds with one of my 5 kids--big deal I have no abs showing, big deal!(its still a flat stomach)-what I,m saying is this--even being laxed on my diet(although I always have to drink a post workout shake)I still am 100 times better off with my current bb style along with its gear usage than I was 3 yrs ago and compared to most of my 50 yr old friends (couch potatoes) I am doing just fine.Just wanted to share some thoughts from a not so perfect 50 yr old body builder-(who still has alot to learn)thanks.

at 50 yrs old, it sound like you are doing great (except for your diet) but if it is working for you, then go with it

however, maybe you could incorporate some moderation, for instance 7 or 8 oreos instead of 15, don't supersize your meals at mickey d's

either way, don't stop training because you are not wasting your time

I agree, you're not "wasting your time."

I think what most mean by that as you aren't going to see the gains you really could be seeing.

If you discontinue use you will likely get back into your old shape once again, even WITH working out.

Very inspiring post bro! Glad to see you love the intensity as much as we do!

tugs it sounds like your enjoying life to it's fullest. you're working out (at 50 yrs), have a wife, 5 kids (holy cow 5 kids!!!) and your enjoying yourself. if lifting makes you happy and keeps you mentally and physically strong then keep it up. :)

The thing about diet is that's going to keep you there when you quit the gear. It is easy to stay lean with tren-but sooner or later you need to back off of the gear. That is when you will be happy your diet is on.

I believe the reason you hear people saying that you're wasting your time is because many of us don't like to promote bad habits even though we all know that you can work less or cheat in certain areas and still make good gains. Maybe saying its a complete waste is a lie but I think we try scare tactics...lol...to make sure bro's are doing everything correctly and not abusing the juice when they could be trying harder and make gains with less juice or none at all in some cases.

Like Getnbigr said moderation is key. Its ok to have cheat meals during the week... but every meal shouldn't be one though...lol.

I hear you --the thing is this,I really don't feel I,m cheating at all--many of you guys live in a bb's world-and thats a good thing--me,most of my friends haven,t lifted a weight in 30 yrs--most sit around an office and bla bla bla--and I am also very guilty of this, until about 2 1/2 yrs ago when I got into bb).
So right now I am so way ahead of where I use to be,and the gear usage allows me to cheat aliitle on my diet and still make great gains--i see absolutly nothing wrong with that.Don,t get me wrong--would I enjoy a 6 pack?absolutly! but I know, for now, lifting hard and heavy, enjoying recovery times and a few injects wkly,is the best thing I,ve done in years.Throw in a glass of milk and some oreos and I,m a happy camper.

I think "wasting your time " is ridiculous-however the point MAY be-why compare your self to other 50 yr olds-compare your results to other 50 yr old BBers!!-the question is how good can this 50 yr old look-is he at his best?-my advice(from one old guy to another)-go to the extreme-get on stage-its an amazing experience and you'll learn a lot about yourself along the way-and if you think oreos taste good now-wait until after your show!!

Do what you do and be happy. If your not happy you can not enjoy yourself or others. If that makes you happy... GO FOR IT BRO!!!!!

I have 5 kids as well, and 4 grand kids. If I had to stick to the 24/7 mentality I would not be happy, and I could not enjoy myself and more inportant enjoy my family. So i stick to it as close as possible, without making myself miserable.
And for those of you who can... My hat goes off to you!!!! JUST BE HAPPY!!!!!

"To each his own" Taking that guy's argument to an extreme, you're wasting your time if you're not challenging Ronnie Coleman for the greatest physique of all time... LOL

Keep it up, Tugs!!!
