Confused by protein requirements.....

Its 1-2 grams per pound, not kilogram. Just FYI, a kg is equal to 2.2 pounds.

Yep, Red has that covered. She is absolutely correct.

Just a side note, try to get a lot of your protein requirements from real food rather then shakes.... Real food offers things that shakes don't.

Nope still wrong. You want 1-2 grams (of course this varies depending on where you read) of protein for every pound of lean body mass. LBM is your weight minus your pounds of fat. Just multiply your weight by your percent fat. That gives you your fat pounds. Subtract that from your total body weight and that gives you lean body mass. Then multiply your LBM by how many grams of protein you want. Fat does not need protein or calories for that matter. Yes...this is a little anal but some of my personal training clients are 35% fat so that is a lot of extra weight that I do not want to feed.

Peace

LMAO..... OK..... We were trying to give a simple guideline.....

But I guess if you are going to get very technical about it...... And oyu have a valid point with people that have high BF %.... Then this would be the way to do it.

I AGREE REAL FOOD IS THE BEST WAY TO GET ANY PROTEIN AND NUTRIENTS NATURAL/CLEAN PROTEIN. WHEN YOU ARE UNABLE TO FIND FOOD OR LEAVE WORK A SHAKE IS GOOD FOR THOSE SITUATIONS..
