To Refilter Or Not To Refilter?

Alright guys, I converted my first 10gm batch of test-enant powder, but Im scared to use it because of some issues on how I converted it.
1) First in the kit I was only given two needles and one 10cc syringe to trasfer the product, so that means I had to take out one of the pins, that was equalizing the pressure, every time I needed to fill the 10cc syringe with gear. Would this in any way contaminate my shhhtuff even though I doused the sealed vial with rubbing alchohol before I stuck it the first time.
2)Then while I was pushing it through the filter, I guess I pushed too hard, and the connection with the filter and the syringe came apart, it sprayed in my eye and all over the place. Would their be any questions about sterility there or would it not matter because all the gear has to go through the filter to get into the vial?

So what should I do?
Is it safe?

ohhh one more thing, Will my eye get SWOL from that or what?

You will look like the hunchback of notre dame in a couple days. If you don't put some ground up clomid on that eye, you'll probably end up with bitch tits, too.

When in doubt, filter it!

Hold on, bro. Filtering it won't make it sterile. Don't think that because the filter is called a "sterile filter" that it makes the compound that you are filtering, sterile. It does not. It is called a sterile filter because the filter itself is sterile.
The filter is only there for removing large particles that you don't want in your finished product.

If I misunderstood your original question, I apologize.

Skip,

My understanding is that the filter pore size sterilizes the oil b/c microbes do no fit through the pores. They are left out of the filtrate.

"Membranes with a pore size of 0.1 – 10 µm perform micro filtration. Microfiltration membranes remove all bacteria. Only part of the viral contamination is caught up in the process, even though viruses are smaller than the pores of a micro filtration membrane. This is because viruses can attach themselves to bacterial biofilm."

http://www.lenntech.com/microfiltration-and-ultrafiltration.htm

Pore sizes for most of the sterile filters that I have heard of people using are .2µm and .45µm, which certainly gets the bacteria, albeit maybe not all viral particles(?).

The other option of course, is heat sterilization - bake the sucker!

-Randy

I would go with heat to be sure but I will certainly look into what you are stating, Randy. I have never known the filter to remove bateria but, hey, I was wrong once in 94 so I am surely due. ;)

bro all the filter does is remove the larger particles, heat the shit if you have sterilazation problems...MM

What temp should i bake it at and should I uncap the sealed vial and use it in the oven?

Won't the BA evaporate.

I believe it is 250 degrees for 20-30 minutes, no need to take off the top just vent with a 18-20ga pin. And no you won't lose that much BA to evaporation.

Yes but it is at a higher temp, boiling point is 400degrees F (205 celcius).
Flashpoint is approximately half of that (lowest temperature at which the vapor above a liquid can be ignited in air) so it does evaporate at around 200degrees F. However for the duration of time you would use for sterilazation of gear it is minimal. I have baked gear before, marking the bottle before I started, for 20 min at 250, and when done it wasn't noticebly lower.
Obviously if you go to hot and/or too long you risk reducing the potency of the gear itself.

Hi all,
I work in a lab and we filter things before we autoclave them if sterility is a big issue. The autoclave's steam actually contains some amino acid derivatives that can get into your solutions so we use the .2 micron filters to get rid of any possible bacteria. In other words, our "gold standard" for getting rid of possible contamination is filtering, so I think that you're safe to go with that instead of the baking. Good luck!

Well, HOLY SHIT FIRE!!

I was fucking wrong. I suppose I learned something today.

I knew I was in trouble when Randy countered. *wince* :)

Hey Skip!!! Looks like it runs in 10 year cycles... LOL '94 and now again in '04. LOL

NOt sure where I read about the syringe filters originally, but it was a while ago.

I guess it just made sense given that the basic instructions for making tren don't include baking, but only syringe filtering. (Just a little heat to separate the binders n' fillers if you're in a hurry.) Otherwise, where is the sterilization?...

Also, it seemed kinda silly in making a tren solution for fun, that you would filter with a doubled coffee filter to get the big particles out, and then, again, just to get the big (but not as big) particles out very carefully open a sterile filter, being sure not to contaminate it by placing it anywhere other than on a sterile needle, syringe or back in its uncontaminated sterile packaging.
