Be honest, who's tried the 100 rep...

...leg training that Mr mcguire and myself are so fond of? There was a lot of chatter out there after our posts about you guys trying it, but not much feedback. Com'on, has anyone given it an honest effort? ;)

To take this a step further, I've recently thought of incorporating it occassionally into a back workout with maybe cable rows and or pull downs for total lat destruction!

INTENSE! I've tried Craig Titus's shock workout for legs which involves 5 sets of 100 reps in 20 rep increments on hacks, drop set fashion but didn't quite reach that many myself. Failure seemed to edge in too early. He also had you superset extensions with smith squats 20 reps each for 4 sets. That was the first 2 exercises! By the time I got to the hacks, I was wobbly already!

When I first read this, I thought you said 100 sets for legs... :D

What ever happened to the theory that anything more that 12 reps aint doing nothing for your muscle?

Why not do this with your chest? Start out at 135 or something and move up?

For some reason I don't like this at all.

Honestly, I see it as a good way to shock your muscles every once in a while.

My lactic acid builds so quickly now that I can bench press over 315lbs but I can rep 135 maybe 25 times tops. Its sad. lol.

I'm going to do a high rep - lower weight week once per month to test this out. Shock thy muscles and they shall continue growing is the new 11th commandment. lol.

Muscle responds to new stimuli, so a dramatic change in how one trains now and then( reps intensity and sets) can only be a good thing. I say shock the piss out of those unsupecting muscle fibers by doing something like this now and then. If it makes your sorer than usuall or runs you into the ground sooner....GREAT!
if it makes you puke, EVEN BETTER!
Now thats new stimuli to the myofibs

Trust me, it hits the muscle good because it's more of a rest/pause set. We only do it a couple times a year as a shocker. But you need to use a machine cause the stabilzer muscles will not last. And the key is that once you plant your ass in that machine you do NOT get up until you hit 100. I don't care if it takes 5 minutes, 10 minutes, or 30 minutes!

jw - we use this only a few times a year to shock the muscles. changing the routines are something we're very good about, very rarely do we do the same workout two weeks in a row.

Did it on a vertical leg press a few months ago. I think I used around 275 lb (maybe closer to 300 w/ the carriage on my set-up.)

I was droppin' F bombs for the last 30 reps like there was no tomorrow.

Man, some days I really love havin' my own gym in the garage.

I have not-But to be honest I didn't read your first thread. I need something to get me out of my slump though.

I tried with leg presses and extensions and didn't make it :(
