What's the most accurate method of calculating BF?
I had mine taken with a caliper but I think it read lower than actual.

There are three types that are within
+/- 1%.

Technique: Dual Energy X-Ray Analysis
Precision:+/-<1%
Cost:$60-$100 per test

Technique:Underwater weighing
Precision:+/-1%
Cost:$25-$50 per test

Technique: Bod Pod
Precision: +/-1%
Cost: $30-$65 per test

The skinfold calipers are +/- 3%.

If you have a university nearby sometimes you can get weighed hydrostatically very , very cheap (sometimes free).

Thanks

My result was 16% BF however when I see pics of others who say they are 16 or 18% they look leaner.
But I agree that the mirror doesn't lie to ya when you're gettin' chubby.

randy and i had a short discussion on the difference between precision and accuracy of the tests i listed. i'm hoping he'll stop back here and post his thoughts regarding these tests. he's got some excellent points.

No method is perfect..... For me, I use a tanita scale.... I figure if I use it all the time then at least I will know whether I am going up or down in bf%.....

The mirror is the best judge...
