B-vitamins

Hard training affects the status of the group of vitamins, collectively known as the B-complex family. These vitamins are important for the proper metabolism of protein, carbohydrates, and fats; as well as for energy production. Research shows that if you’re deficient in B-vitamins, your physical performance will suffer. So for optimum training and performance, you need a good supply of these nutrients, both from food and supplements.

Very good info. Red meat is loaded with b vitamins. Also vitamin B neutralizes homocystiene (found in fried foods). Homocystiene corrodes blood vessels, major cause of cardioV disease.

Great reminder KR! Sometimes people become overwhelmed in other supps and forget about the basic B-complex vitamins they should be taking. Also, a daily high-potency multi-vitamin is good too and usually contains at least 100mcg of B-12 in it.

get all b vitamins , just buy it off 1fast400 or some place , b12 only is not enough .

now that you mention it, i think i read somewhere that our bodies need all the b vitamins taken together for them to be useful

I'll have to check on that one, I can't remember for sure

my multi vitamin has plenty of B's and I take it twice a day on workout days

i shouldn't need more than that should i?

Taking it 2x daily should be okay as long as it isn't a cheap brand.....alot of the time the cheap stuff has so many binders and fillers that we do not assimilate the tabs. Vit B is water soluble so there is no chance in overdosing.

I use a multi that is a liquid-I get it at my MD's office. It is called "Daily Complete" it is cold pressed from young barley grass if memory serves correct. Anyway, as for Vit-B content it is loaded. It is 3-4 times higher than the recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) on B1-B6 and the b-12..get this...is 100mcg which is 1667% of the RDA......it also has a concentration minerals, enzymes, EFA's, 23 herbs, 22 hmeopathic nutrients and some more stuff. Funny thing is when I started using it I had a haircut within the first month and the girl that has cut my hair for the past 8 years made a comment on how my hair was in much better condition...wasn't frail and "dry".
Load up on all B's...the RDA's are way too low.

Vitamin A beta-carotene is that water soluble and is to much of that i dangerous ?

Vitamin A/Beta Carotene is not water soluble and yes you can take too much of that.....just take beta carotene and the body will use it to sythesize enough vitamin A. 10,000-50,000 IU of BC will be fine. DO NOT SUPPLEMENT VIT-A OR BC IF YOU ARE USING ACCUTANE.

Most fat souble vitamins are stored in the liver.

Fat soluble vits-A,D,E,K K is the only one not stored in the liver.

All other vitamins are water soluble.

As a note if you become sick with a cold or flu take massive quantities of Vit C. You can take about 20 grams a day in divided dosages with no gastric problems. Some MD's actually give it as an IV in HUGE dosages to combat disease.

there was one really good multi I was taking a while ago. it's called ZMA (some of you guys prolly heard of it) it's great, Zinc, Magnesium and B6. it puts you to sleep though. i wonder why it makes you tired? it says on the bottle to take it 60-30 min before bedtime. anybody got any theories on why it makes you sleep like a rock; no dreams, no nothing, just unconcious

Yes I have read that also that they inter-act so thats why you should use a B-complex.
