Just eat cheerios for breakfast--just kidding, but seriously--oatmeal or oat bran really does get rid of cholesterol. I'm not sure how much when you're talking about cooked oats or processed cereal, but I do know can get rid of a lot--IF you eat 'em raw (with milk and a little bit of sugar or add fruit and yogurt).
Ever since I was a little kid, my parents had us eat oatmeal like that (anyone ever heard of "German breakfast?"). Before I ever started seriously bodybuilding, I had a physical in which my cholesterol levels were also checked. I may have been about 17-18 years old, can't remember the exact age. My levels checked out to be 129 TOTAL cholesterol. My doctor asked me if I was a runner, to which I replied that I wasn't. I didn't really do anything extremely athletic at the time, and my family is not really the type to have a naturally low count. The doctor couldn't figure out why I had such low levels and even told me that I needed to bring those numbers up, lol!
So try it--eat oatmeal like that for 30 days (1/2 cup religiously every day--no slacking) and have your cholesterol levels checked and see if there is a difference.
