insulin = loss of weight

Hi, that's me again.

This question is not for me for for a friend of mine who asked me how I could help him, because I'm supposed to know a lot about insulin (I'm a diabetic).

This friend is on a fairly strict diet all year long (lots of slow sugars, proteins, oils). He gets easily hypoglycemia, at any time of the day, and sometimes hyperglycemia. In the morning, waking up he's only 64-67 mg sugar in blood (standard is between 70 and 105). He's got many mates who tried insulin and got much lean mass. But each time he tries he gets terrible hypoglycemia (even with as little as 2 to 4 IU insulin) and instead of puting weight he loses some.
What can I suggest to him ? Diabetologists don't want to take care of him because he's got a b'br's look and they know he's on juice.
Thanks you.

GO see a doctor. Doesn't sound like he's body is able to stabilize insulin properly. He shouldn't mess with insulin himself, insulin can be fatal. He needs to see a doctor to figure what's wrong.
