pushups

I would like everyones opinion on this. I have recently lost a lot of weight and would like to get back in shape. I am going 3 days a week.

mon-back shoulders
thursday- legs calves
friday-chest arms

Ive been talking to people who said that doing pushups every night along with the weight training would be beneficial. I always thought that this was overtraining, but I have tried HST with great results and have heard a lot of good things about doggcraps training methods. Also I see those guys who went to jail and came out HUGE from nothing but pushups everyday. So what do you guys think about pushups everyday? how about just monday to friday? Or just on my off days. (tues, wed, and sunday only because I think im gonna need saturday off) I know this goes against all the overtraining philosophies, but Ive seen other people get results using this. So what do you guys think. What day should I do the pushups. thanks.

I wouldnt do it, seems like over training to me. But I lost size and strength on HST, DoggCrapp has been doing alright. Those guys in jail use steroids, thats not all natural doing only pushups, I guess its easier to get drugs and juice when your locked up.....thats how our system works.

I've become a big fan of pushups, I got some pushup bars, you can get em at Wal-Mart I think, anyhow I started doing sets of pushups and found my stomach muscles were getting sore and trimming and toning my waist, my sides along with my chest, I began to get that V shape and realized I was working a whole range of supporting muscles along with my chest and tri's. I move the bars further together and further apart to hit different areas of the muscle groups.

:surprised

I wouldn't think you'd want to do push-ups when your chest/tri's are sore. You need to give your muscles time to rest so they can grow.

Now the only time I can see push-ups to be even okay to do would be during your chest workouts. But I don't think doing push-ups really is going to tax your muscles enough. If you want to grow, just lift heavy.

Push-ups will do nice things for you if you're not in the best condition already, or haven't reached full potential. I also find that they''re ok to do the day before chest day, nothing extreme rather just to loosen up a bit.

as for those guys in jail they do get plenty of food and rest too!!! but if your commited do it!at one point i was doing daily routines along with 500 push-ups a night (I dont truly believe in overtraining) but the push- ups are time consuming and boring tough to stick to, but I got incredible growth in my triceps and chest the only down-side was I always had muscle soreness. heres a tip I used to make it less monotonous I'd walk while i did them. find a track or field and every couple hundred feet drop and do 25. I'd usually end up doing this for an hour so and u get added cardio good luck bro

Yea, it's wierd cause I have a buddy who does them every night religiously (200 reps) and he has built a great upper body and triceps to match..........Go figure.

Does he work out with weights also?

NO.lol thats why it's wierd........all he's done for the last 5 years is push ups and crunches before bed.......shitty diet, but he looks like he put quality time in the gym.

The impressive part is that his muscle endurance is great. He can do a shit load of reps without stopping for air.lol

a friend of mine went to jail and wasn't big at all. Obviously he wasn't allowed to work with the weights so what he did was work with the a partner. It worked like this-

The partner would do 50 reps pushups
then he would do 50 rep pushups

Then partner 10 pullups
he 10 pullups

Partner 49 pushups
he 49 pushup

Basically they worked the number of reps down by increments of 1, 5, or 10 depending on which rep failure was acheived on. he's still not huge, but definately looks like he hits the gym on the reg. I tried that routine, didn't get those results.

He also mentioned he used to take asthma inhalers even though he wasn't asthmatic, which made no sense to me whatsoever since the steroid in it is not anabolic.

man,, push up are the most natural exercise u can do for ur chest. this in return stim ulates the most neurological activity , which in the end promotes muscle growth.. This is why weighted push ups bets bench press anyday for muscle development. Now i konw most people arnt goign to believe this ,, but its true,, and if i had some pansy there to put weights on my back in a sliing or something so they dont fall all over the place id do the weighted push ups instead of the bench. Those thing s kill and make ur stomach sick
