why are certain words edited with *'s

just wondered why certain words are automatically censored with asterisks (*****). Am I committing some sort of infraction of board rules?

so people dont just run around calling others scamers , cause sometimes they do not ask permission to post shit so i have it edited out automaticly

I see the need in that respect. I just wanted to know if there was a database / list of *******s and/or imposters of scamers that could be reliably referred to. just to add another safegard against getting scamed.
