Do you take breaks?

great question----
you need to take a break when you are not making any gains or you are just going through the motions. I take my breaks after I finish a show. Its normally a few weeks, but its hard to stay away, so it ends up being a 7-10 days.
I feel so much better when I get back into it.

I am back in gym now after a 2.5 weeks off totaly and completly! it fealt great to be honest, i needed to feel like i wanted to go back, as i was burnt out completely but the time off did my good!

yep, I find it refreshing coming back from a week break. Takin a weekor so off gives your body time to catch up and gives you a bit more free time to relax.

I take a break every 5 weeks or so. just about 4 or 5 days though. I feel like sometimes I just need to rest for a little bit. But when the rest is over I hit it hard cause I feel like I was missing out.But when I'm fully rested and start again I feel like a new person every time.

i feel too guilty if i miss, i havent missed a day of weights in a while. i got caught up drinking the last couple weekends, i guess thats my break. it was the first time partying in about six months, but now i need a break from that. plus i like food too much, and being shorter and thicker a halt to exercise with an increase in calories would be a disaster.

My wife and I train together and we take a week off every 12 weeks. You have to make yourself do it because it seems to work for us.

Personally I believe one should plan all breaks in advance. If you find that you are losing motivation due to feeling stale then you have not been very smart in your planning.
Example, If you are doing a compacted HIT cycle with the use of ergonomic aids you may not actually want a break and may not actually notice a lessening of performance (for those who do not check over or keep training logs) but you will pay for it off cycle if you have not judiciously planned a minimum 10 day break every 6 weeks. If 2 weeks after break there is a slackening of performance on cycle then the break was not long enough.

You sometimes just end up going through the motions and almost have to force yourself to go to the gym. It's time for a break, just finished about 2 weeks off and have been looking forward to working out again. Also had to many nagging pins that needed a break also.

I take a break about every 3 months, take a week off and rest do thing that normally get sacrificed to go to the gym. Not always planned, but my body gives me the hint that the joints need some resting.

I am taking a whole month off,my gym closed all august this year and the other gym i found is on the other side of the city and they asked me for 200 dollars for 1 month membership,so i am walking the dog for a few miles everiday,go to the sea 2 or 3 times a week and do a bit of push ups crunches and pullups as soon as i wake up and before bed,i am keeping proteins high but i am also eating food i wouldent eat the rest of the year(i follow a really clean diet, basicallly chicken, tuna, brownrice, eggs and potatoes)my bodyweight is the same and i feel really motivated and full of energy, looking forward to the 1st of september:evil:
