What makes me even worse is that key stars in the NBA refused to play. I mean how can the NBA trophy mean more than a gold medal that you won for your country!?! That is absolutely ridiculous!!
I just couldn't fucking believe this either! I am not american but I am a big fan of bball and the nba. When International NBA players such as Pau Gasol, Ginobili put on their respective country's jersey there is real pride. I know that this jersey means more to them then what they wear in the NBA. No bullshit!
Basketball is a truly global game. This isn't baseball or football where most people outside the U.S really couldn't care less. I like these sports though!
. Ask some hardcore sports fan somewhere in Europe(e.g spain) who Barry Bonds is or even Babe Ruth, wouldn't have a clue. Same goes for your form of football Ray Lewis, Tom Brady, Brett Favre etc... "who?","WTF you talking about" would be some responses. However if its bball, most will know who Shaquille O'neal is or Michael Jordan, even some females that don't even follow sport. Hell, they probably even own a NBA jersey.
The NBA still has the best talent, absolutely no doubt, but it no longer seen as elite as it once was. There are many exceptionally talented bball players overseas that are just as talented as many NBA players(and paid only 2% of what some chump in the NBA gets paid LOL!). The days when the US could beat everyone sleep-walking by 50-60 points is all over!!! A lot has changed. It must be time now for the U.S players to wake up and too be blunt..... stop being so fucking arrogant!
If you are world champions prove it!....and no, Detroit Pistons are not world champions but NBA champions. The pistons are a club not a country.
Thats as ridiculous as calling the champion soccer club of England(Arsenal) world champions. Why do you guys do this? U.S media always world champion this, world champion that. Please don't tell me the Major League Soccer champs are called "world champions" LMFAO!
I hope no one takes offence to any of my comments. I just thought I add a perspective from a bball fan overseas. As for my foul language, well......."fuck" and "shit" are part of everyday speech in my culture LOL.
