quick question about bicep recovery.

when the rest of you guys are sore from working biceps are your muscles sore or just the tendons in your elbow. cause i never really have that sore of biceps but the inside of my elbows ache and it hurts to straighten my arms after they have been bent for awhile.

My biceps never really get sore, only sometimes. I don't have any pain in my elbows ever. Do you drink milk? :)

Ahhh, the beginnings of tendonitis....

Seriously though, you don't really need to be sore in your biceps to have results. Biceps just don't get that sore very often. As far as the tendonitis is concerned, that can result from having your arms/elbows at the wrong angle when you do the exercise. For example, if you do barbell curls, keep your elbows at your sides and lift the bar up without bending your wrists and your elbows should not move up or out or only move up a slight bit if you can't help it (if your elbows move up, your delts help with the lift which you don't want). You may have to reduce the weight you were using.

I need to add that you don't even have to work biceps that often either. I have heard it said that if you want big arms, you should do a lot of back and shoulder work and do minimal direct bicep work.

my bi's are killing me today because I hit back and bi's harder than usual yesterday.

if you want big arms work your tri's...

your tri's make up most of your arm size and you won't be able to build big bi's without having the tri's to build them on.

i am not worried about arm size i was just wondering if anybody else has experienced this. i drink a ton of milk so it is not my bones. i think my problem might be hyper extension. i let my elbow get to full extension when i lift. but when i watch alot of guys who do bi's they never fully extend, is this to reduce chances of injury, or are they just lazy. and about form, i make sure to have impecable form when doing bi's. oh well just suck it up Qb. stop bitching.

if you want big arms use syntol,i mean good old greg valentino is huge LMAO!!! ass clown

Whenever you do bi's don't hyper extend, only let your arm go down to a certain point. If you'll notice, your bi relaxes once you let your arm go all the way down, you don't want that, and in order to keep constant tension on the muscle you stop right before full extension down, and stop at peak contraction on the up, and no further than that. Your tendons hurt for one of two reasons, too heavy of weight, and/or you actually aren't pulling the weight up with your biceps, you are actually using the tendons (which could tie in with too heavy weight). Not trying to discount you in any way bro from my comments, but I've had the same as you back in the day and thats what my problem was. They don't call me Cannons for nuthin bro!! LOL!!

i don't think that the weight is too heavy but i agree with what you said about the relaxing of the muscles at the bottom, i just figured that i should get full range of motion. thanks for the info.

Weird, cause my Bis NEVER get sore, same with my calves. Both get a really good pump though. Is that not good? Sometimes it takes two days for my chest and tris to be sore, same with my shoulders. I like the pain, reminds me that I must be do "something" right! Whats yalls favorite Bi exercise? Mine is reverse ez bar cable curls, with your elbows on your knees, make my arms feel like they are going to explode!

As already mentioned, sounds like tendonitis setting in. I have been pumping iron for 26 years, and have had bouts with it on and off for the last 10 years. Most times it would come on and I would just refrain from doing anything to aggrevate it and ice it...would normally subside in 2 weeks. However, the last 6 weeks it came on and it was killing me. I finally said fuck it, went to the doc and got a cortisone shot...immediate releif!

So try to avoid exercises that aggrevate it, ice it regularly and try some ibuprofen. If this doesn't help after a few weeks, go see a doc and ask for a cortisone shot. :)

i don't think it is tendonitis because it only hurts for about 38-72 hours after than just feels normal like after working any other muscle group. maybe it is my genetics and how i feel it in that muscle. i changed my technique a little though and have had no problems since. thanks for all the advice guys.
