20/20 Conti Interview

Did anyone happen to catch this tonight?
Conti was very open about who his clients but they mostly hit on Marion Jones, a few NFL players, and Marion Jones' husband. One female track athlete got caught and forfeited her track medals.
While he did not implicate Bonds, Bonds told the grand jury that he had used two substances but he did not know they were roids.
Marion Jones denied use to a grand jury - this could have serious implications in regards to perjury charges.
I think Conti just wanted everyone to know it wasn't only him- its everyone.

Just watching it now...

Conti seems a bit of a sleeze. This stuff (baseball mostly) has been HUGE here in the SF Bay area.

He used to be in Tower of Power??? The only white guy??? This story just got a whole lot stranger....

SK23

He said he was going to name names for all the right reasons.

Now Bonds is pulling that Shefield shit, "I didn't know what it was!!!???" Why can't they be a man like my boy Giambi? You think your body is worth millions and millions. You never ask someone what you're puting into it? Give me a break!

Conte is a rat, and as far as that goes so is the media for presenting such lopsidedness....he going to cause a lot of damage to alot of things, and sports in general....this is just the tip of the iceberg. The govenment will be stepping up more very soon..

One thing that caught my attention about Giambi was that he said he didn't think the stuff he was taking was working. I find that hard to believe--take a look at one of his rookie cards or other early pictures--you can see he is thin. Some time later on he has a TV commercial where he's pretty big and buff and even flexes a huge bicep at the end. They're not working?!?

And Bonds IMO is just trying to save his ass. Like jaywooly said, how can you go put something in your body and not ask what it is?

Willieman's right--it's just getting started.

One other thing- Conte said that he had developed the most complex cycle is all sports history. Looking at his chart, it didn't seem that complex except for the part where he knew when the testing was coming up. I think I have designed(hypothetically of course) more complex cycles than that....

(a cut in paste from a post I made from another board discusion)

This is definaltey going to be the new subject that the news media is going to latch onto to strike fear into the American public, and they will make it their "new cause".Conte is just trying to save his own skin, and the other gold medalist that spoke up is just looking for some kind of attention, and people to feel sorry for her.If she never would of been caught, she would be a hero.I loved Contes comment that he should be put in charge of the anti-doping commitee.
If they are going to do a story, do a story on sports as a whole, and how the old mighty dollar has driven athletes and trainers to the extremes for performance (legal and illegal) to make a buck for sponsers and owners alike(and yea, I am talking to you too Weider). In the end those are the people who walk away with a full wallet, while the athlete stands there with the bag full of goods.Even the million dollar athletes (they wouldn't be paid millions if it wasn't affordable). These owners/sponsers should also think about the devistation it could cause the industry if the media goes hog wild, and some freakin goverment official (like Biden, who is responsible for the "ban") gets a hold of it and makes it his pet project. They will convince the public to be outraged, and will take all the "cheaters" down, and clean up.
Then they will realize they have shot themselves in the foot when the backlash hits and Joe Public isn't interested in seeing average performers because he is used to "superstars" .It's unfortunate they blame the athlete, and not the system, and the answer is to change the system so that the althletes follow, not the other way around.
In the end, the media will have thier hype, cause a flurry, ruin people, and walk away looking for their next big story, with out even giving a hoot at the irresponsible actions they took in selling a lopsided bag of poo that does more damge than it does good just for the ratings.

My opinion anyway

Peace

Heh, I checked it out. There really wasn't that many surprises considering Giambi and Bonds already 'came out' earlier this week.lol I think some of the 'proof', ie, calendar, picture, etc is going to put Marion Jones in a world of shit. And Romo....lol....anybody who has been watching the NFL for the last 15 years can now say 'I just KNEW Romanowski was juicing!'.lol The dude is one intense muthafucka...and coupled with roids...lol...nuff said. :D

Its already happening here ya go

"Major league baseball players and owners should meet immediately to enact the standards that apply to the minor leagues, and if they don't, I will have to introduce legislation that says professional sports will have minimum standards for testing," McCain said after returning from a European trip late Friday. "I'll give them until January and then I'll introduce legislation."

the gov't is going to be stepping in? what the f#ck are they going to do that they aren't already doing. this has been going on for longer than anybody can even imagine. all they can do is test for what they know exists today. as you can see by the BALCO sh!t and other recreational drugs, "undetectable" derivatives are popping up all the time. there is no way to stop it. people have been looking for an edge since the beginning of competition. do you really think this will change things.

rat fuck

it was entertaining, but hey don't roll on people...how much did that son of a bitch make off of them...well i had a friend who got busted in the 80's made tv ,sports illustrated. he gave his business to someone else we never missed a beat....and he didn't rat any body out thank god for my ass....he made his point with out throwing any of us under the bus.and yes he did jail time, came out a millionare

It always seems like some ass that got shoved around as a kid gets a job as a reporter. Then he/she spends their career looking for that one big story. they ruin other people and families and don't care one bit.
You guys are 100% right... no one will watch sports if everyone is average. you might as well just go to your local high school and watch them.
We should try to educate the media and the public on the use of steroids. EDUCATION is the key to all of this.
Mommy doesn't want little timmy shooting up roids because it's bad for him. Yet she retreats to her bedroom to smoke a fat one on the weekends.

Conte is spilling his guts for LIMITED IMMUNITY. He cut a deal with the attorney Generals office. He wanted to get nothing more than probation out of all this.

They should let everyone be on ROIDS that way it takes the edge away. They talk about an even playing field, if everyone is on isn't that making it even? Then when you say you are the best then that is true.

He was recently raided from this interview I would presume, its all in our february musclechemistry monthly mag due out tonight

Yeah he's a dickwad, i don't care what the situation you don't roll over on people. He knew the risk of doing this for these athletes and now that 20/20 flashed a couple bucks in front of his face he is going to tell all!!!!! i think that is rediculous. but thats entertainment for ya

i dont think conti is wrong at all. the public, the media, sports fans, and pretty much everyone else in the world is so naive to this game. i think he opened alot of peoples eyes to the fact that this has been going on forever. he didnt really rat anyone out, they already found those documents. the only way he f-ed up was by having the athletes names on documents with their cycles, and im not even sure if that was him or greg anderson. btw, wasnt milos sarcev and dennis james involved in this?
