newbie help needed

Let me start by telling a little about me first.
36y/o professional firefighter just trying to stay in shape for work at first. Now I want to see just how big I can get, mass is what I 'm looking for now. I am in the gym four to five days a week and working hard. I have seen great gains so far and can't wait for further ones. I've only been at this for a few months.
my current measurements to start are :
weight 225 lbs, approx 18-20%bf, chest 48, bi's 17.75 , calves 18, waist 34, thighs 27.
My first cycle is now d-bol and test cyp.

Now for my questions .....

what is this SLIN, IGF-1, R3 that I read about in posts and when do you use these new products and how and why?
 
Just me but if your new to this i would steer clear of slin, thats insulin and thats not for the newbie.

Slin is great for adding mass if used properly but the comes with a heavy price if used incorrectly.
 
Honestly at ~18% bodyfat you might just want to cut up first down to around 10-12 % before you start bulking but its just a suggestion....
 
I don't feel it's necessary to cut down prior to bulking at 18-20%. It just depends on what you want. If you dont mind feeling/looking super bloated/chunky while adding on additional weight, I say just go for it. I feel the bigger I am, the easier it is to put on muscle. And then you can focus on cutting with a muscle maintainence program. Shit, you caould actually keep putting on muscle while cutting it you do things correctly.

Do a search of the things you ask. Slin is insulin and IGF is insulin-like growth factor. I would not suggest either for a beginer. You say you've only been back at it for a few months. Give it time. Bust your ass and eat like an animal. Food is more to it than anything.
 
Thank you for the info... I don't feel the need to try such risky things and the money would not be a wise choice either. I will keep you posted during my current cycle....
What do you suggest for a cycle to cut after I bulk for the next few months. I will probably bulk until maybe march then start cutting late april early may. about 8 to 12 weeks from a local show in late june. might see about small competition just for kicks.

I suggest a clean solid cutting diet to start with 30 - 45 min of cardio 4-5 times per week. Keep lifting the weights to maintain strength. Make sure protein intake stays high.

You should research a proper cut diet before you start so you can be prepared :)

I have to agree with Wheelz on the bf%. You will get alot more out of the cyp if you get your bf% down to around 12%.

You diet is the most important thing when it comes to cutting. da_Fonz can definately help you out with that one if you need some suggestions. I have a friend who is a firefighter and he does not exactly eat like he should. He and his fellow firefighters do alot of cooking and eating on their downtime, so he eats way more than he needs to.

I would look into adding some Deca or some Eq to your cycles. Both will compliment the effects of the test cyp. and cause you to add even more mass than before. You would be supprised at how many of the big guys use Eq and Test Suspension and get great results. JMO
 
Sorry about the body fat issue ...I was just guessing. I had it tested today at the gym and it's about 12% right now. They used a fat caliper or something.
 
Whoooooooooh, calipers can be 96% accurate depending on the calipers used and the procedure used as well as the person using them. Use NSCA's 9 point skin fold test and have me do it and i bet i'll be off than less than a %. And thats goin by hydrostatic testing which the best way to measure (dunking you in a pool of water, after you have expelled all your air outta your lungs.) Use lange calipers and have an experienced person do it and IT WILL BE ACCURATE.
