if you get an infection use this...

exactly fonz. i think its a smart idea to at least have some just in case.

Keflex (cephalexin) is typically used for Gram+ infections such as cellulitis or a superficial abscess. It doesn't work for all infections. Self treatment of infections is not necessarily the most prudent way of taking car if infections. Just $0.02.

i agree with that, but it certainly doesn't hurt to try and fix the problem yourself to a point, especially for those of us without health insurance

buffedude's right for general use, but if you suspect abscess, cephalexin's one of the best choices. virtually all infections that originate from skin bacteria -- usually staph, and and almost all steroid injection infections are due to contamination of the site rather than the steroid -- are gram+.

that said, if you don't catch it very early, no systemic antibiotic will really make much difference once the body successfully walls off the infection into an abscess.

very tru bro'....antibiotics are a touchey subject even with people in he medical field....soem belive that by porescribing an anitbiotic for everythiung you cna cure it but the major problem with this is that our bodies adjust to antibiotics so eventually they will not work if taken for the wrong type of infection....too many people think if they can get antibiotics and take them at the first sign of an infection then they wil be fine....most of the time they take the wrong kind and do more harm than good...Md

those are very valid statements brotha's. buffedude, thats a great point you brought up. thank you. i believe what i learned in micro biology and from my doc is something similar to what marble said. that is why i recommended the site. great point though!

The site asks for a prescription when you add the Cephalexin to the shopping cart, and says that it won't ship until they receive the presciption from the vet.

Has anyone had any luck with them shipping without having a ver prescription? My bulldogs sure could use some of this medicine.

if your dog has kennel cough from being around a bunch of other dogs (ie. pound, kennel, ...) a vet should prescribe it.
