Muscles shaking after a tough work out, cause?

Hi all,

This could come across as a stupid question but bare with me... After a particularly intense workout my legs will shake uncontrollably (like just standing up)... I know they are tired and depleated of all kinds of chemicals with others in there that don't do you much good, but...

Do you know what the cause of the shaking is from a chemical perspective?

Thanks,

SuperChicken1

it's not chemical it's your nervous system adapting to the heavy training and weights...
are you new to training heavy? regularly or intensely? you'll make much quicker gains at first because your nervous system has to adapt. Your muscles are typically strong enough to lift heavier weights than you're capable at first but your system can't handle it. It's a good sign you're shaking that means you're pushing yourself to those limits

I thought it was just becuase your stabilizer muscles were fatigued. Don't know the chemical reason though. Would say lactic acid but my legs rarely "burn"

Mikeswift is correct. Your nervous system has been really torched when you get shaky like that--been there many times myself.

I used to get these when i was younger and i thought that i wasn't doing enough in the gym unless i was their for 2hours+, i'd also have to say it's your CNS.

i dunno if waddling around the gym on squat day counts.......:p... thank god it was friday and all the good lookin girls were gettin all prettied up at home.. i almost busted my ass down the steps :)

If I take normal steps after a good leg day my legs will buckle and when I get in my truck to drive home my leg shakes just holding the brake pedal at a red light. I just take it as a good workout.
