Your parents healthy?

Im curious, with most of us being consumed by this lifestyle, how were you brought up? Did you parents teach good exaples as you grew up (diet/exercize-wise)?

My parents were slobs and I was one early in life. We as a family would occasionaly try calorie counting and such but we always failed. That's why I wanted to change so bad. I was obeese and always the but of jokes. Finially when my parents let me play popwarner ball, I lost a bit of weight and felt great. From that point on I was hooked.

My parents are still very unhealthy people.

My parents were also unhealthy most of my childhood. Taught us very bad habits of eating junk, and drinking tons of soda. My parents have actually decided to get into shape now as their age is catching up to them.

My mom has lost over 170lbs in the last 2 years. Just from diet and minimal excercise. (And a strong will). I'm very proud of her. She feels a lot better about herself now.

My Dad always had us kids doing exercises like sit-ups, push-ups, and even has us lift little dumbbells, but I am the only one who got into the iron. We had an old copy of Arnold's 'Education of a Bodybuilder,' and that I think was my inspiration. My Mom hasn't been into exercise except for the last few years when she was diagnosed with type II diabetes so now she walks on a treadmill and uses a stationary cycle at home. My Dad had been slacking off in the exercise, but he finally got back into running and a little bit of weight training, and he finally lost some of the gut he had built up.

my Dad was a big old NYC cop back in the day and always lifted and worked out. He had me in the basement working out and hitting the bag back when I was like 8 or 9 years old and I did it on and off with an old school set of weights and a poster on the wall that explained exercises with these really bad drawings back in the 70's. Unfortunately my Dad died very young (at 49 over 10 years ago) and I wish he could have seen the shape I've been in over the past few years all thanks to him.

Parents (mainly father), drank a lot and didn't eat right and never worked out. Was always skinny so it didn't matter. No one in my family started working out until a few years ago but with them its still sporadic.

When I was a little kid my dad was built like a tank and he was really muscular and ripped.

My mom has been on the decline since she got married and I was born and is now very very out of shape and probably at a high risk of heart attack.

My once in shape dad is now 49, has a big belly and eats ice cream and chips at night.

I preach to them about a healthy lifestyle and reference my dead grandpa's who both died before they were 50 due to heart attack.

They don't listen..... It's sad, I wish they would take their health more seriously. My dad could be in great shape, but he doesn't workout anymore and seems to have given up.......

No amount of encouragement seems to help but I always have faith one day they will see the light and realize how important their health is before it is too late because it almost is too late.

Zylo, I feel ya on that. I'm only 24 but it seems in the last yr my family members have been dropping like flys and some aren't even that old. Imeet and talk to a lot of people in my job and it seems like 50ish isn't uncommon to die from heart disease. And here we thought we were living longer.

My mom diets from time to time and loses a good amount of wieght when she does. But my dad is another story and eats whatever he wants and is always askin me "hey do you want a milkshake or do you wanna eat some ice cream with me" I say no most of the time but sometimes I give in.

My parents weren't much for fast food so it was almost always home cooked meals and pretty well rounded. They didn't buy chips or twinkies or any of that shit either. I was a hard gainer so I tried everything to gain weight so they supported me working out even though it took forever to notice that I ever touched a weight.

My parents are extremely healthy. My father had me playing a sport as soon as 3 years old. For snacks I was fed fruits like apples or some veggies nothing like today where fat ass kids eat potato chips. Hell, my brother was getting a lil heavy when he was 10 and my father had him get into track. Both of my parents are from the midwest where they both lived on farms so they didnt eat all that processed crap that other parents ate and let their kids eat.

Cant wait to be a parent... all my parents(4) are slobs n lazy n i try to get em on tha right track but it never seems to help. LAZYNESS gets the best of most ppl but ima make sure my child lives a healthy lifestyle n doesnt get caught up in american society way of living(dieing). I love to lift makes me feel good, and ima set the right example for anyone willing to follow through with the path i lay out for them. I put my ex ona small diet and she lost 10 lbs and is lookin slammin, but looks aint everything as you all know ;-P. Went to the beach today almost got the shit beat outta me by some 200+ lb boxer lookin mutha fucker cuz his hot ass girl was STARIN ME DOWNNNNNN. :) i felt proud i do what i do and it make take dedication, but goddamn its worth the rewards in the end 10fold. BTW that bloat from the 6 k kcal load went down and i was lookin SHREDDED.

fuck stlxnstones call me the human fuckin lobster cuz by the time i got tanning oil from these bitches we was kikin it 2 i was already baked the fuck up and now im in pain.. Where the percs at when ya need em :-(
