back pain

Hey bros, my back has been hurting the last month or so. Its not gear related as it started while I was off. Its not injury pain......but more like muscle soreness.

Its all in my lower back and spinal erectors. I dropped deadlifts in my workout a few weeks ago after a full week off from weights. I also started stretching again. I stopped doing that about a year ago. My g/f is a massuese. She's not advanced but definitly knows more than I do and tried to help loosen/massage thwe muscles.

Nothing is working! I'm contemplating a chiro when I get some cash. Any ideas what this is from? My lower back was my strongest part and now the muscles feel fatigued a lot.......like there always cold and tight.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

You are sure it's muscle and not in the spine itself? I've had back pain myself for the better part of this year, and it feels like the same thing and same location you describe. I think I brought it on from going to heavy too soon. I had to stop doing squats in the cage--I lean forward too much because of the way my body is built. I moved to extensions, hack squats, leg presses, and kept deadlifts as well. For some reason when I do deads (keeping exact form) my back feels better the next day. The pain had diminished now, but I still get it from sitting with my back curved.

Tk, it feels like muscle soreness.....not spinal pain. Its not intense.....just annoying and it comes and goes. Like when I first posted it hurt....now nothing. Like I'm overtraining it but I've been going easier on my back than usual. It won't hurt when I train. And yea, I get it usually when sitting down or curving my back.

You sure it isnt a bad knot in the area? Does your GF know how to give a deep tissue massage? I have to get that from time to time b/c of my heavy lifting to relieve the knots in my back.

Fonz....no she isn't. She knows someone at her school who does and I might try that first. She's just a little cheaper than the chiro though. I hear it hurts. But its worth a little pain for long term relief.

YES, deep tissue is painful. You know what else works WONDERS is ART if you can that is better and less painful but it costs more.

Did you gain a lot of weight last cycle? That could do it. Also, are you getting enough water in? My lower will almsot cramp up with soreness when I'm not drinking enough water.

ART = Active Relase Theropy. Its a way of massaging muscles, get out knots, and some claimit breaks up scar tissue also.

yah man... if any of you recall I previously hurt my back doing deadlifts about 2 weeks ago... it still hurts a little.. but its feeling so much better and i can actually sit up without using my arms..i know that sounds sad. I don't think I really want to do deadlifts again after my experience with them because that just plain SUCKED.

Well, i wouldnt till your fully recoverd and next time stress form the entire time. Also, have someone who knows the movement make sure your performgin the exercise correctly.

I would recommend a Chiro over the massage therapy especially if you're concerned about financing. The last thing you want to do is pay for a massage or ART and then have to go to a Chrio anyway. Most Chiropractors will give you a bit of a massage anyway and some have rolling tables you lie on to stimulate and warm the area... if those things don't work I would try accupuncture next as it always works for me.
