anyone ever been there? i'll be going in another few months and just wanted to hear some first hand experience.

I lived there for two years for my work. Very metropolitan city- a lot safer than Mexico City. I don't think anyone would mess with you. Plenty of good food- some nice Italian restaurants there. They also have a Buffet called Los Generales- awesome food, desserts areout of this world. A couple of cool flea markets, and really awesome churches(architecture). Also if you drive make sure you don't hesitate- its very offensive there as far as driving goes, and if you hesitate you may get into a wreck.
People also don't like to stop completely for stop signs(ALTO).
Let me know if you need to know anything else...

Sorry, I don't mean to hijack the thread, but I just had to say that the stop sign thing is how it is practically everywhere else in the world--comes from the Europeans. My nephew in Brasil told me the stop sign is just "a suggestion," LOL! They won't stop unless they really have to stop.

Watch out for yourself down there in Mexico!

i've been to brazil and saw the absolute worst driving ever there. i saw a bus hit a horse and carriage. it wasn't head on but they were both going in the same direction and it "grazed" it. it was crazy to see all the traffic come to a stop, then all the motorcycles speed to the front an take off on green.
