Removal of pyrogen from IGF powder

Hey guys, its been awhile ... HE'S BAAACK

I have a huge question - any help would be appreciated. I've read your posts on removing bacteria from IGF powder. When I got my IGF powder there was info on removing pyrogen from the powder. I noticed you guys did not mention pyrogen. I have no idea what pyrogen is.

From your posts it sounds like all I have to do is add 1 ML AA or BA to each 1 mg vial of IGF powder. (I also add bacteriostat water to the slin, not the vial, when injecting my experimental animal.) My question is - will the AA or BA kill everything and am I fine. Or do I have to do something else to rid the pyrogen. They were talking about some "gel flitration" that was impossible for me to understand. My hope is that adding the BA or AA will be sufficient to make the IGF injectable for my animal.

Thanks guys - any help is appreciated as this stuff is not cheap. BTW for folks just starting on it - get ready thee animal loves it!

wow i dont know the answer to this one brudda....i know that ba and aa will do a great job but i have no clue about the pyrogen....bumpity bump

Yeah this one's got me perplexed as well. But so far all posts have not even mentioned pyrogen so I am hoping the AA is ok unless someone tells me different.

Do you know if I can just use BA and/or AA or if I have to use gel filtration. If I have to use gel filtration do you know where I can get instructions. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

You could just go with the IGF-1 lr3 that MC sells; it would save you the trouble of going through all this to make your own.

Pyrogen is actually a chemical that is added, basically as a fire retardant. It is used in numerous things including your drinking water. Small doses of pyrogen can give you flu-like symptons for several hours, but larger doses can be fatal so pyrogen has to be removed before usage. Using gel chromotography will remove pyrogen by seperating the protein from pyrogen and other bacteria according to size.
