I am wondering if anyone else has had the same problem that I am having.
I have high cholesterol, and have been taking various drugs for that over the past couple of years. On the positive side, this has been a great reason to get my blood work done for my liver (which is oddly fine even though I take accutane, a gram and a half of gear, and cholesterol drugs).
They also routinely run a CPK test, which is supposed to tell if your muscles are being broken down by the statin drugs. Mine always comes out - in the words of the nurse who calls me with the results - as "freaky high." It has been hovering around 1400 - 1600.
Now I know that lifting weights can increase the CPK level, since your muscles break down when you lift (obvious to us, right?) During the past year, I have put on maybe 25-30 pounds of LBM and have had good increases in strength, so I am not particularly worried about wasting away.
My doc, however, is concerned about the levels and keeps changing meds.
Any of you guys had similar results?
Frankly, I am not terribly concerned with the CPK levels on their own.
BTW, I am 39, 185 at 5'8" and about 13% bf (and dropping).
