Update for you all (shoulder surgery imminent)

I will be having my shoulder surgery in the 12th of this month. It's to repair a torn labrum.

Other that how long do I get off work, my main concern is how long before I could start training again.

I will be out of work for 2-6 weeks. Being in a sling for the entire 6 weeks.

The doctor said I'll likely start phisical theropy soon after surgery. He said I will lose outward mobility. I asked because I've had this surgery twice before, he said I'd likely not lose much more mobility than I already have (he gave a degree but I can't recall).

I assume I'll be able to start lifting around that six week mark but I'm sure I'm going to have to take it nice and slow.

I'll continue to update. I wonder what meds I'll get?

good luck with your surgery bro. it's never fun goin under the knife, i know

hmmmm, meds, huh? i'm sure you'll have all kinds of fun with those

I wish I culd've put it off like you B2See. My doctor said I didn't have a well defined labrum due to two surgeries prior. He said there's a good chance ther may be no labrum to repair and they'll need to use my tendons to hold my shouder in.

I can't do bench, incline, military, pulldowns, etc. I can to tri's, moderate weight curls and legs. I only get a pain in my pec from lifting if I'm lifting my pec (incline, decline, flat).

Well I had orthoscopic done on my shoulder it was pretty bad. If I grabbed a 5lbs dumb bell and tried raise it to work my front part of the shoulder. My shoulder would pop out of the socket. It would pop back inn right away but god damn it hurt. So I got it done. I got some anti biotics, anti flammatories and good old Vicodin. I alomost got hooked on Vicodin and i felt like if I had not abused that drug I would have recovered much quicker. Also try to go for walks as soon as you can. You may not be able to do upper body but lower body you will. But still be carefull not to injure yourself. Also some nights I would sleep on my shoulder and wake up in the morning in a world of hurt. EAT alot even though you may not feel like it but eat. I lost 18lbs in 3weeks and got very depressed. Good luck bro and hope all is well the end of your surgery.

thanks guys. im back and as you my tell typing one-handed. ill check back in another time and get back to work. mc doesn't give sick pay, lol

Hey Jaywooly we're in the same boat, But I'm at work sadly. I've got 5-7 weeks b4 I get rid of the sling, I can only do those pendulum exercises with that arm. But I can drag it up by the keyboard for typing.
That one guy that was talking about the pain in the pec to shoulder area scares me a little, that sounds eerily familiar, thats the link that I tore loose shortly after having that same sensation.
