New Dog Problem

So the girlfriend and I just got a new dog, a black lab a little over a year old. I was totally against it, but finally talked into it. It's cute and all, very calm, doesn't bark that much or bite at all. Problem is the damn thing doesn't pee outside! Took her out for over 3 hours the other day and nothing, but as soon as I brought it back in, pissed all over the rug! Probably the 10th times it's happened. We've only had it for 3 weeks now and I know it takes time, but it's like the damn thing is doing it just to piss me off and I'm on my last nerve with this thing. Not sure how many people have dogs, but any suggestions?

Give it to your relatives that have a big yard. that's what I did, I found out the hard way that I am not a dog person. Too much work involved.

get puppy training pads.
Take her to the puppy pads in a specific area of the lawn. They are scented so she should pee on them.

Also
Praise her when she does go outside. Give her treats and when she does pee in the house give her a lil smack and tie her outside for at least twenty mins so she learns that its not acceptable.

A dog is only as smart as its owner.
Take the time and praise her when she does stuff good.

this may seem cruel to some of you but it worked for both of my friends dogs. As soon as she pees on the rug grab her. Rub her nose on the spot where she peed and spank her in the but with a rolled of new paper. Now I am not saying rub the hell out of her nose till it bleed nor am I say beat the hell out of her. Just enough to let her know what she did is wrong. Then take her outside.

bro training puppies isn't bad, but you got your self an older dog that is getting set in its ways, breaking that will take patients and lots of pissy carpet. I like the pad idea. Also, control her water intake until she gets the idea. Give her water first thing in the am then take her out in 20-30 min. When you get home do the same thing. Keep the water out of reach in the evening so she isn't pissing all night.

Or just dont give it water at all. Your puppy problem will resolve itself. :satan:

I've got 2 chocolate labs and when they peed in the house i put their nose up to it and told them they were bad, try not to smack the dog though because you could make the dog skiddish and the dog will pull away from your hand when u go to pet it. If you catch the dog peeing pick him/her up and take her outside where u want her/him to go, stick with it and the dog will learn, it's just about consistancy.

I'm very against training pads, once you've trained the ddog in the house then you have to train it go outside. try and teach her the words inside and outside. When she goes outside give her a treat, cheese worked good for my Boxer. As soon as she goes outside tell her good girl, outside. On top of that you need to play with her all over the house and have her roll around on the rugs. Once she realizes that the whole house is for playing and eating in she won't want to mess anywhere inside. If she continues going inside, start feeding her in different rooms where she's peed. This is a quicker way to get her to understand not to piss and shit where she eats. Good luck bro and remember to try and praise her for being good as much as possible.
