Numbness in the Forearm

last week when I was training I felt some pain in my forearm, kind of a tingling pain but didn't seem serious..today I noticed when I touch the forearm with my other hand it's numb, similar to when the doctor gives you a numbing shot prior to some minor local surgery like a biopsy, like it's difficult to feel that the fore-arm is being touched, only the numbness is on-going.. but other than that my arm feels fine and it seems to work fine w/o pain..has anyone ever experienced something like this? when I was 16 one time I had nerve damage in my shoulder blade and the doctor said a virus had damaged the nerves and so my shoulder blade would pop out when I extended my arm, it ended up taking 6 months for it to correct itself because nerves take a long time to heel, hope it's not that again..

if it's a pinched nerve can I still do weight training? I havn't checked with the doctor yet because there is no pain and my arm still seems to work fine, the only symptom is that when I touch it feels numb? what do you usually do if you have a pinched nerve?

thx for the replies

I would recommend you have it looked at before you continue training. If your nerve is damaged or pinched, you may have also injured something else in your arm, but won't know it because the lack of your sensitivity to pain. Its a long shot, but you never really know, and I wouldn't take the chance of further injuring yourself. I've had something similar happen to me before. I was doing skullcrushers and felt a shock up my forearm. Everytime after that if I bent and moved my arm a certain way, I could feel a nerve around my elbow "catch" on the bone and it would send a painful shock down my forearm. I had numbness mixed with a throbbing pain off and on for a while. Fortunately, it didn't last but a couple days, but every now and then if I move my arm just right, I catch the nerve again, its annoying. Get it checked to be safe.
