Ok well I dont have weight lifting at school till we go back from christmas break. But well one of my friends when hes in the weight room , all they do in there is max out. So well im just wondering what is the best amount or reps to do? Because on alot of sites ive been to they say 3-5 , but then some say 5-7. But in weight room at school they do enough weight where they can only do it 1 time. So like what is the best amount of reps for me to do to?

Maxing out is good "once in a while" not all the time. I personally try to max out every 2 months or so. As for reps...bigger muscles (chest, back) i try for 5-8 reps, smaller muscles(bi's, tri's) 8-10 reps. Try both and keep stats, see what works best for you.

I can agree with both guys above. There is no RIGHT answer but plenty of wrong ones, lol.

Basically as a rule, if you can do it more than 12 times, it's not doing anything for you. Each time you pick something up, go to failure. As you can see, if you're doing 3 sets you'll start off hitting it 8-10 times. Then only getting it up 4-5 times, then last lift only getting it up 2-4 times. Stick with the same weight tho. That way, you're taking everyone's advice excpet the 1-rep maxout king's.

I agree with these guys too. I train like body2see in the same manner, and it works very well for me.

I never go above 6 reps myself. I mean I do, but then I rack on 10lbs and then try to push for 6. Warmup, thats about it over 6. Works for me.

Same here. Even if I go 6-8 reps, I will plateau easy.
