Bodybuilders Nabbed In Stoughton For Vegas Murder

(CBS4) CANTON A pair of professional bodybuilders has been arrested in Stoughton, wanted for a murder in Las Vegas. The husband and wife were captured Friday afternoon at the Shaws Plaza, by the FBI.

Craig Titus and Kelly Ryan were wanted for the December 14th murder of a 28 year-old woman. Her body was found in the trunk of a burning car in the Las Vegas desert.

Melissa James of New Jersey was apparently strangled before the car was set on fire.

According to a police report, James was a personal assistant living with Titus and Ryan before her death, and Titus admitted having an affair with her. Titus and Ryan accused James of stealing from their bank accounts.

A third person was arrested in Las Vegas in connection with the case.

Police plan to charge 40 year-old Craig Titus with murder and arson. His wife, 33 year-old Kelly Ryan will be charged with accessory to murder and arson.

According to a police report, the pair was in the Boston area to meet up with a friend who was going to help them 'liquidate their assets" so they could leave the country.

Both Titus and Ryan are championship bodybuilders from the Las Vegas area.

The 5-foot-9-inch, 250-pound Titus won titles at the June 1996 National Physique Committee USA Championships, and competed in Mr. Olympia events.

He pleaded guilty in Louisiana in April 1995 to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute the party drug ecstasy, and served two years in jail for steroid-related offenses from 1997 to 1999.

Ryan is a past Fitness America and Fitness International winner and Fitness Olympia runner-up who worked as a loan officer for Silver State Mortgage in Las Vegas.

Well ain't that some shit man. I don't know what to say, murder always shocks me. Anyone ever watch that show, the first 48 on A&E? I don't know. I always get pissed at shit but so far never wanted to kill anyone. There was probobly more with these two, they seemed a bit in desperation by their actions. I would bet the plot, probobly not going to be told is thicker. There is always drugs involved as well, or alcohol, which is a drug. Clouds the thought process.

That's a real shame. It's bad enough when "regular" people cut up, but when celebrities and known individuals get caught up in this kind of stuff, it' really sad. Kelly doesn't look like she would get caught up in that drama. I used to go to the Olympia shows and hang out at the expos, she always seemed like a true lady.

I watch the 1st 48, it's a good show.

there had to be something else going on. there had to be drugs or something that isnt in all the reports. when your on drugs or alcohol its scary of some of the shit you can do. you could get behinfd the wheel totally plastered and take someone out in a second, when you know you shouldnt have been driving in the first place

There probably was drugs involved involved on top of the stolen identity, affair with the personal assistant. Supposedly, the couple found out their live in toy/personal assistant stole Kelly's identity and was stealing from the couple. I have threatened to beat up people and meant it, but killing someone because they stole from you, yeah, that is excessive. Sue them, press charges and make sure they end up behind bars, but don't jeopardize your freedom because someone stole money from you. It sucks, but you learn from the lesson, not kill them for stealing money. Money can be replaced,but not your freedom. I work hard for my dough and wouldn't appreciate someone stealing from me, but I gotta have a better reason to off someone than money.

I agree with you Ironbelle. Everybody does not act like that in America however. I don't know the full report, but if someone who was not in touch with their emotions decided to kill someone in a fit of rage it would not be thought out or orchestrated. It would be quick and messy, followed by a quick cover up with lots of holes. The best defense in court would seem to be temporary insanity. If a spouse was involved they would probobly be facing accessory. All this stuff with a good lawer could be worked down to manslaghter most likely with the spouse getting tampering with evidence. One some good drugs and alcohol get in the mix however this fucks shit up. There shows more delay time, a plot and then your chances of doing more time increases. Oh well, screw it, I hope that shit does not happen to me. Even in the height of rage I take time to cool my head.

I've seen Kelly Ryan in person and she was always nice. She doesn't even look like the type who would break the law. I don't even think she has ever been arrested and now she is apart of this. I'll have to keep up on this story to see what the outcome will be.

i think titus has been found guilty or finally charged by a grand jury in his attempt to have witnesses killed and what nnot, i had an article about it, i will look

from what i remember she is still just awaiting trial for the original murder
