alright, ive got to get bloodwork done for a program that i am in. my pops had a heart attack last week because of high cholestrol. what i am wondering is if they do a general health panel (ghp) will that show my test level or do they have to check the testosterone box?? along with the GHP she has lipid profile (lipr) box checked. what is that??
one more thing. how much does gear raise your cholesterol??

A general health panel will show your test level, depending on the diagnostic company that performs the test. Mine does. Yours may not considering that you have a box that needs to be checked. The lipid profile is the test for cholesterol. It's just another name for it, and it will show both LDL (low-density lipids--bad) and HDL (high-density lipids--good) cholesterol. Gear will often raise the LDL and lower the HDL, but the degree to which this happens differs from person to person.

yeah, there was a box under the chemestry section for both test(total) and test (free). i hope the ghp doesnt show it. would gear raise your ldl enough for them to do anything about it??

Gear may screw with your LDL and HDL enough for the doc to do something about it (like put you on a statin). Depends on the person.

If you have a family history of heart probelms, it is smart to watch your lipid profile. There are side effects to statin drugs, but your doc will monitor your bloodwork. If things are high but not too high, you can always tell your doc that you want to get it under control through diet and exercise first and then have it tested again when you are off gear. If your LDL is really high and your risk factor is high, your doc will want to put you on drugs and it might not be a bad idea if you have insurance. I take a couple of drugs for my cholesterol as well as some OTC stuff that has been shown to be modestly effective (niacin, fish oil, metamucil). Bottom line: the statins are the main thing that can drive down your cholesterol.

Smart move getting the tests done bro. Good luck

im just hoping my test levels dont come back with this. that wouldnt be too good. im sure they would have to check the boxes for test to see any of the levels

That's what it sounds like to me from your description. Are you worried that your doc will ask you about high test levels? If it is some outside program that is doing the checking, more than likely they won't be checking your test levels. That particular test costs some money to do. I remember one test I had done specifically to measure only my test levels, and it would have cost $96 just for that test if I didn't have insurance. An outside program probably won't be spending extra resources to check for hormone levels if you are only doing the test because of cholesterol concerns.

its a program that requires you to be drug and alcohol free. i dont really want to get into details. i see the doc from time to time and she doesnt even want me to take anything. shes always askin me how im doing with the suplements. this has nothing to do with my fredom or anything. because i told her that i am not using anything. i just dont want her to find out im liying. she dosnt want me doing anything like that. no tanning not even creatine or protein. ill be done with it before too long. might even be done with it a bit early if my test levels come back

well, my doc called me with the results today and luckly my test levels did not come back. anyways the ldl whitch is the higher one (i think) is 180 and she said the lower one could be a little higher. i think she said it was 80 maybe. i could be wrong on that one

Your numbers are 180 and 80? That makes your total 260 which is high. Sounds like you better get the cholesterol under control if that is what it is.

i was way off. my total was 174. im not sure of the numbers but she said the lower one is a bit low. im sure its from the gear
