I have always had major sleep issues, but I want to fix it without going to prescription drugs. Valerian sometimes work and sometimes doesn't.. melatonin works ok. does anyone know of anything else that will help me sleep hard without any type of hang over effect??

ive been on a drug called mirtazapine for about a year now. it doesnt give you that groggy feeling in the mornin. it is a prescription drug though

i have been using this new sleep aid lunesta and its great..no groggy shitty feeling in the am...but melatonin at 6mgs sometimes more has worked well too but the dreams were kinda fucked up

Valerian(sp) did nothing for me. I suffered insomnia for years. I used to get plastered on the weekends just so that I would fall asleep easier, but got tired of waking up with a dry mouth from too much alcohol and a hangover Every blue moon when I stressed about money or my job, I'll wake up in the middle of the night, but as I've gotten older, I have been sleeping through the night. I thought back that maybe it's because I stopped taking ephedra daily even though I didn't take it past 6pm. We'll see since I'll start taking it again regularly soon. I finally started eating better the new year and pulled out my stash of Therma Caps, Xenadrine that I got before the ban so we'll see what happens.

I don't remember what it was like to get a good nights sleep...but that's because my kids kick the crap out of me during the night. At least that's who I'm blaming it on right now, we'll see when they stop coming in my room.

I did not get quality sleep until I changed my workout plan. Every other night works for me. Now that I reduced my number of workouts I have no issues with sleep. Alcohol is actually a stimulant and even though you may pass out from it, you sleep less and once you wake up its almost impossible to fall back asleep and you usually feel like shit.

i think melatonin is pretty effective if you can find the dose that works for you..me its 6mg anything higher and my dreams are relaly fucked up

Try taking 5-HTP you can buy at the health food store this is similar I believe to tryptophan and works fantastic without the dreams you get with melatonin.I know an excellent supplement formula that a company sells here in Florida but I can't remember I'll post it later tonight.

Bump on the 5-htp. I've heard other bros have used it with excellent results. Personally, sex does it for me--and my wife, lol! She says I wear her out.

Might give 5-HTP a go, I find it hard to sleep when dieting rest of the year 12-14 hours a night is possible especially at the weekends, going to try the melatonin too fancy some of those wierd dreams, I hardly ever dream, or at least I hardly ever remember dreaming

If you are still having trobuble sleeping, consider a simple Benadryl. 25mg of diphenhydramine can be found in many generic products. Try that about 20min before bed. It wount make you groggy, but may cause you to feel less rested in the am..

this seems to work for both me and my girl.

I dont know if anyone else has noticed this, but glutamine helps me sleep better. It doesnt help me get to sleep, but if I take it before nighttime I sleep like a log. I only get up once a night as opposed to the 3-4 I usually do.
