ok I'm an Italian New Yorker through and through and no matter what time of the year, cycle, or diet there is no way I can avoid eating pasta at least once or twice a week. Luckily I do 90% of the cooking in my house so I can add in some chicken and some good quality protein to all of my meals. But I was curious how many other gindaloons we had on the board and who eats pasta even though it's not in the bodybuilder's handbook...

I eat pasta but no italian here. I get some lean beef and make some meat balls usually or a pasta salad using tuna, olive oil and fresh vegetables. When I make my meat balls I will usually substitute cheese and bread crumbs by using some crushed cheese it crackers. All the other crap I make traditionally.

I married one. Speaks, reads, and writes it. Homemade Pasta EOD. Chicken Parm tonight. We'll be taking the kid's to Italy for the first time this Summer.

I'm Scottish, LOL.

I married one too but can you believe she doesn't cook?!?!?! I plan on teaching the little rug rats to speak it once they come along... I guess I better learn more than the, "hi, how are you?" and all of the curse words I know!

I lived in Rome for a half a year while studying abroad for a semester. I eat some sort of italian food atleast 3 days a week. You can get clen over the counter there, so i didnt gain as much weight as i should have when i was there, maybe thats why they're so skinny there...they're all on clen!

wow so i take it you speak it fluently as well Chuck? Impressive. I use that translator all the time, it's great.

jmacey - I think there are a lot of reasons why they're so thin over there, for one they are much more active than we are here and don't snack as much as we do. I think they eat a lot better overall with less processed foods but in the end I think genetics plays a role. I can't wait to get back to Rome, I love it there.

mmmm chicken parm forget the sushi I was going out for tonight I think I'm going to have to switch it up and go have some comfort Italian food.

100% here bro! And no, it's not possible to live without pasta. I go with the wheat pasta though. Supposed to be a little better for ya. I plan on teaching myself Italian sometime within the next couple of years.

I'm part Italian from my Mom's side. Ancestors on her side come from Sicily. I eat pasta regularly myself. I learned how to make Nana's real Italian sauce--man, my mouth waters just thinking of it because it is so good. [Homer drooling sound...ahhh]
No chicken in that pasta, just good ol' lean beef stew meat, and some hot spicy sausage from the local Italian market.

True dat. My wife has been buying the whole grain and the fortified pasta's and I think some of them have protein in them as well but i haven't been paying too much attention to the labels lately. I'm going to be trying to cut up a bit soon so I'm going to have to cut back on the pasta or at least change my cheat day to Sunday so I can have my Sunday dinner.

Has anyone ever had an italian dish they didn't like? I really can't think of one.

I agree with everyone else in that I can't think of one I didn't enjoy. One of my favorite cheat foods!

I don't like their Beer and some of their Desserts.

yeah the beer isn't great, Peroni is average but come on you don't like gelato??!?! I didn't like it until I ate it there. Bacci Gelato was sooooo good. It's that chocolate/hazelnut like the candies you cna get here blended together into a gelato. I ate at least two a day while I was in Rome, loved them. I guess there aren't a lot of great Italian desserts

I'm half and Missy is half. I do 99% of the cooking unless she is dieting then she cooks her meals for the day and I cook dinner only for her. I eat pasta maybe once every couple of weeks with the exception of the last two weeks. Homemade pasta is the bomb. There is a place not too far from me that serves Sweet Potato Gnocci. Holy Shit if it's not the best thing I have ever eaten. Gotta try it if you can find it or make it yourself.
