If anyone is looking to become a Certified Fitness Trainer(CFT), Specialist in Sports Conditioning(SSC), Endurance Fitness Trainer(EFT) or many other certifications search ISSA on google(i cant post the actual web site) for more information. I am not a rep there nor do i work for them, I am a CFT through them and found it to incredibly in depth and educational. With this certification I have been able to take jobs as a Fitness Trainer at two gyms already since my certification and do indepandent work. Aside from getting a BA in exersise or fitness science I believe this is the best way to go. Great course, great book, and great seminar thanks to Dr. Jack Barnathon.

no problem, since it helped me so much i wanted to share it with those who didnt know of the programs they offered and hopefully help someone else achieve their goals.

i filled out the form for info and I not only got an e-mail soon after but the guy just left me a message on my cell phone, all within an hour. Great customer support.

How long did it take you to get the certification?...any info would be appreciated

I recieved the the Book/Video and course work in late December, read the entire book and watched the whole video, filled out the pre-test along with each chapter in 2 months (just wanted to make sure i knew ALL if the info so i could be the best trainer i could be). Then i signed up for the next seminar which was that March in Boston. It was a two day seminar led by Dr. Jack Barnathon from Long Island and NY strength in which the first day was an 8 hour lecture, meet and greet with your peers for technique sharing and networking and then the following day we spent 4 hours in a near by Gold's for instructions on EVERY exersice free weight and machine. At the end of that day we went back to the hotel where the seminar was held and we took a test after a final review. If you recieve over a 75% on the test you will be notified via snail mail within the month. Also you need to have your CPR certification which i would advize taking at the Red Cross being that that certification lasts 2 years.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask or message me. Good luck to all that go for any of the certifications. Its well worth the time and money, not only for becoming certified but the knowledge you gain is invaluable

I disagree, I think ISSA is a bad choice.

Maybe its just my location, but almost no gyms here take ISSA unless its a hole-in-the-wall gym where you won't get any clients anyways. All this dispite ISSA costing more than ALL the others.

Also, I haven't taken any other courses like ACE,etc but the ISSA course didn't teach me anything I didn't already know.

It may be your area, alot of gyms around here(NY area) prefer and promote ISSA and many of the trainers are ISSA certified. I personally thought it was a good choice and has work very well for me, but that is from my perspective and location as you pointed out. I think the best way would be to go to local gyms and see what they prefer and take that certification or training, but like i said around here, ISSA is prefered.

Yeah, I think I'm gonna go with ISSA too. I'm gonna get it right before or right after I get out of the military. I'm about 90% sure that ISSA certification is the only certification that you could pay for with your G.I. Bill, for you other military people out there.

who ever says issa isnt any good is an idiot, both wife and I are cerified through them and it was a very extensive course, not just a place that gives them away, im proud to be issa certified, and it is well recognized on east coast here, not that i use it for anything, i just wanted to have it or be certified as did my wife
