Could mean jail time, Bill. Get an attorney and have a jury trial. Attorneys can play the heart strings on jurors...it you just go with the judge...emotions can't be played...just straight up law.
They will most likely drop it down to a misdemeanor...If you have to serve any jail time try to get electronic home detention. You'll have to pay a fine and they may suspend your license. I'm not quite sure of the punishment for that but that sounds about right. You'll also probably have to get a sr-22 when you do get insurance if you did not have any at all.
Okay Bill---listen up. When I was a kid I got hit walking across the street...the kid never even got a ticket...the reason?...well... he knew the cop (I hope I don't start anything by saying that). The thing is, is that if you suck up and play Mr. innocent and Mr. I-feel-so-bad you could be okay. Jails are full and they rather not throw people in there if they can help it.--E-mail me and keep me informed and I'll see what I can find out for ya...maybe you can get out of this mess.
